Err no I have reiterated it many times, under this current system this is as far as the League goes as good as it gets, we’ll certainly won’t get higher than a 6th as the players that got us there will go in the summer to larger clubs as they pay the wages. Kruger hasn’t specifically laid out aims and ambitions and used elastic terms and statements.
All of this maybe true bazza but so what?
It isn’t a level playing field financially so what can we do?
I’ve provided biased evidence and examples that fit my agenda, disregading all other examples and arguments. The proof will be in the pudding when VVD and Betrand roll out next August in Saints kits…
“I am not saying I agree with FFP but it is the reality. You comply or you get fined or you have squad/transfer restrictions or you get banned from competitions.”
You dick Barry! No one was extolling the virtues of FFP - I said that FFP is a leash for smaller clubs which is used to keep the bigger clubs at the top of the tree. The EXACT opposite of ‘extolling the virtues’.
Give me a concrete solution to the problem as you see it. How can we throw more money at players without breaking FFP regs?
omg goat has schooled him so bad tho! I dunno if I’d be able to show my face if I’d been schooled as bad as barry has been schooled, i feel v.sorry for him srs and anyone that has had to witness this extreme schooling i think there could be ptsd all round from this horrific schooling omg
“I am not saying I agree with FFP but it is the reality. You comply or you get fined or you have squad/transfer restrictions or you get banned from competitions.”
Fining a wealthy club for overspending is well a bit shite and toothless.
That’s not the point. Try again.
Who has been banned? And after signing your quality players for millions get banned from signing more? Yes they’re shitting themselves…have been for ages.
Goatboy said we couldn’t go down that route for reasons of FFP and I’m pointing out no one has ever given a fuck about FFP, loads get pulled up but carry on, the next issue is is that viable for us? No not at all, so we’re in a situation whereby we bring players on and sell them to clubs we can’t compete with fairly, broken?
Indeed, so we’re a selling club and until we don’t sell our best players its obvious we are still that, Kruger sounds like Comical Ali
Every club is a selling club depending on price and circumstances. Or should we let players run down their contracts and leave for nothing? Do you really think that the likes of van Dijk come here because they have always wanted to play for Southampton. It is an opportunity to move on to bigger things. It has nothing to do with wages, no matter what goes on in your head Barry. If a player has anything about him he will aspire to play for one of the top four. If we can get a few seasons out of these players and then make a large profit at the end of it surely that helps to sustain the club and is no bad thing? It is a win for the player and a win for the club. Once we keep players here for the length of their contract when bigger clubs want them, that is when these players will seek out other clubs.
We become better at spotting players. We work on our reputation for improving them. We sell them for a profit. We get better at this and we can pay more money for better players with brighter prospects.
We promote our brand and exploit commercial opportunities better. Increase our income and increase wages, again for better players.
That’s lovely, our academy is arguably better than most already and you think under the way things are done if we’d tried to outbid or retain a player that others couldn’t or wouldn’t want to pay for?
When the parody Barry Sanchez account was first developed from the radio show for the TV pilot, he was written in as a Saints fan.
That clearly isn’t working and he’s now trapped in this looped plotline about investment - so I suggest the script writing team tweak it a bit and have him alternating between supporting Chelsea and Man City for a couple of seasons.
He can still do the rants but it will make more sense to the viewers.
Without us offering more money to players to stay or come here there is no way we can improve on our League position, this isn’t rocket science.
Kruger really has done a number if people will stay here when they can get more elsewhere, so we pay more or they go and that is fair enough in the business sense, what I don’t get is Kruger saying he has a plan.
What plan either we spend more money on wages or we don’t, if we don’t we sell so therefore how do we improve by continually selling?
The continuity is all screwed up for a start.
The proof will be when VVD and Bertrand run out in a Saints strip next season as I say aiming for 5th place…
