What? In your kaks?

The Red Riding trilogy has just been added to netflix, well worth a watch if you haven’t seen it, brooding crime drama set over 3 decades with a very decent cast.

Alien:Earth on Disney+ is picking up a bit of steam now, written by Noah Hawley of Fargo fame, with some stand out performances from the support cast including Ade Edmondson in quite a sinister role, and Timothy Olyphant as the obligatory ‘synth’. It’s not without some flaws, but it’s way better than some of the more recent Alien slop that has been served up.

Maybe it’s recency bias but it may ght be my favourite Alien thing ever.

Most of the sequels are riffs on each other, with Romulus being a prime example of destructive fan service.

Alien Earth genuinely breaks new ground; the extended length proving a much better job of exploring the big themes.

Timothy Oliphant’s stand out role as well - he is NOT playing a sheriff or a marshall!

Also great to see Ade Edmondson doing so well in his second life.

I should also add Bebou Ceesay is pretty badass as the cyborg :lou_sunglasses:

Great casting.

More than a hint of Yaphet Kotto about him visually. Couldn’t be a more different character.

I made the mistake of looking at some reviews on youtube, where it is pretty much getting slammed left and right. I should know better as my general film/tv viewing experience has significantly improved since I stopped watching the rantings of wannabe critics going apoplectic over the smallest inconsistency, especially when they are only reviewing singular episodes rather than the sum of the parts.

If I had one big criticism it’s that I would have liked to have seen more of ‘Tyres’, think it’s the first thing I’ve seen him in since ‘Spaced’ :lou_lol:

Hulu.
(Maybe Amazon or Apple)

Behind the scenes of Heavy Metal in the 80s

Episode 1 Randy Rhoades - The songwriter guitarist behind Ozzy’s solo success.

Great music, I never knew the story.

Jeez

Includes Ozzy & Sharon plus others

Yeah pretty tragic story of Randy Rhoades, could have done so much with that talent.

Only Murders in the Building is back for S4 on Apple.

This is nonsense. It’s formulaic, repetitive and each series grows.

It isn’t ROFL stuff it’s occasional cringe maybe smile but it continues to bring in guest stars.

And S4 brings in some crackers- no spoilers, but Zak starts slowly and by the end of Ep3 just nails it. Eugene & Eva hold mirrors up so well.

This is good nonsense shit and no surprise it tops the Apple ratings.

It really should have a wider audience

Season 5 Episode 3…absolute fuckin’ classic. :+1:

Apple +

The Last Frontier. Lots of noise about it - from theBlacklist creator.

Imagine a modern Con Air without Nicholas Cage crash landing on the outskirts of Fsirbanks Alaska..

A very promising 1st 27 minutes so far with signs this is a bit more than ConAir on Ice

Na, formulaic nonsense.

But it’s Ice Cold Blacklist

Next you’ll be saying you didn’t see the New Yorker cameo in Only Murders in the Building S4 Ep 5.

Shame on you

I’ve been here longer than you. I’ve seen everything, many times over. I retract nothing.
At my time of life I can’t afford to watch repeats.
