… any Tom Cruise movies, tbh. He’s been a bit shit since Risky Business.

You can’t watch this yet, but I suspect most of you will.

It was welcome news to me this week when I discovered that there is an Alien series being made. It is going to be set on Earth (about fucking time) and a good deal of it has already been filmed.

Why is this being menioned here? Well, this is the reason that we probably won’t see a Fargo season six for a bit. Noah Hawley is the showrunner of this new Alien series.

Shaddup… just about to sit down with a shandy and watch it.

Reviews are very good as were the trailers.

(Band of Brothers was excellent. The one in the Pacific left an indelible blank ( don’t think I finished it))

Best example i came across was approx 30 Spitfires/Hurricanes & a Mosquito doing a low slow fly past at Middle Wallop decades ago.

That was more Merlin porn tbh

OK

My unvarnished opinion?

Band of Brothers built up the characters & camaraderie well before combat. This doesn’t at all.

Music, very bombastic ‘murica first’ gung-ho. Again BoB did have uplifting music but it was great and fitted.

Otherwise it was alright. I’m not that enthused about going straight into ep.2 (rather watch For All Mankind this evening)

Production and special effects etc - top notch.

The introduction of characters was very rushed and seemingly wanting to get straight into the bombing “action”. I have no real idea of the characters who go through to ep.2. Perhaps that’s what is intended?

They should have thought more about their successes around how BoB was produced and the storyline was developed - or is it election year in the good ole USA? Still they have the money and experience in creating these things. Probably people were too afraid to say they were dropping a bollock.

Still, people who haven’t seen BoB will love it.

One episode I’m and genuinely disappointed after the teasers / adverts but more importantly how it diminishes the great stuff that preceded it.

2x :rage::rage:

Talking of Band of Brothers - just stumbled on Loudermilk (Netflix) - lead is Ron Livingston who played Lewis Nixon 111 in BoB

Potty mouthed ex-alcoholic substance abuse therapist telling people like it is. Only done 2 episodes so far but some genuinely laugh out loud moments.

American Nightmare. Netflix.

An absolute nightmare documentary about a home invasion, kidnap and rape and how the local police and FBI reacted.

Shocking and compelling.

Good call, enjoying this so far :lou_lol:

It’s good when you unexpectedly stumble on something actually worth watching these days :+1:

They’ve just added Monsieur Spade to the IPTV mob @Goatboy introduced me to.

Binged and currently on last episode of S3

Best quote of all 3 seasons:

You can lead a horse to water, but you still need a step ladder to fuck it in the ass.

Made me chuckle anyway

I’m still on Season 1 but enjoying it…some good laugh out loud moments already.

Unstable
