Yep.
@pap will be on here drooling about it shortly & bemoaning it isn’t a computer game yet
I say this with great confidence as Mrs P_F usually rolls her eyes and says I hate this sort of movie.
And watched all of Ep 3 making me explain Arturian legends and (not easy this) why was Arthur from Dorne? I thought he was from Tintagel or was it Winchester?
I got 5 minutes into episode 1 and gave up because of the bad acting…
Was my thoughts on The Witcher.
Hang in there. There IS a good story behind Kate Langhorn tryingvto be Adele in a fantasy movie without singing
Meanwhile Space Force seemed great, turned out dire.
Mainly imho because they tried too hard building characters not laughs.
It had very few moments but was a soap opera.
Ep9 became funny, pulled some of the running gags together and I laughed.
Not a total write off and in Ep 9 John Malkovich finally earns his fee
Back in the sandpit before Netflix, Mrs P_F & I had a guilty TV pleasure. American Idol.
Yeah we got shit for it.
Anyway we watched Scotty McCreery win being just kinda the underdog. We watched Carrie Underwood become “a voice”, but the series we always remembered was when this ultra smarmy gay kid blew the roof off every week and yet lost to someone called Chris in the final.
A few years before that I’d had a good night out at a concert that wasn’t as shit as I expected - Paul Rodgers & Queen.
Then Rami Malek came along and…
I digress.
The Show Must Go On - Adam Lambert & Queen is on Netflix.
You lot may know Adam from a few hit singles maybe the IoW gig but this is the story of how Queen copes (badly) with losing Freddie, the stage show, bumping in to Paul Rodgers and then actually playing with Adam & whoever Chris was in the Finale of Idol.
How that led to the symbiosis and how the “new group” conquered the world.
A really good documentary great clips of Freddie impersonating Rami Malek and of course the music.
Mrs P_F & I knew that kid could sing from the moment we saw his Idol audition when Simon Cowell was all meh about him.
A really good 90+ minutes
8/10
Simply because I could have watched 10 hours of that music
Remember those really old spy/terror threat movies?
From a simpler time with twists & turns?
Well, Unlocked 2017 Netflix is one of those.
CIA/MI5 Moles, unwilling heroes.
It’s no classic cult movie but it is a darned good old fashioned mash-up remake of a whole bunch of those films.
And a cracking cast Naomi Rapace, John Malkovich, Michael Douglas, Orlando Bloom
All bar the last bit filmed in London.
Recommended
Just started watching it… classic Gervais… goes for shocks, embarrassment and suddenly deeply moving. Excellent.
So I’ve been watching the Umbrella Academy, it’s alright, not brilliant but alright.
Anyway I saw an article this morning accusing it of being anti-semitic because the boss of the Commission speaks Yiddish on a few occassions.
Why is it anti-semitic? Because the Commission is considered Evil and assumed to be trying to take over the world. So the show is peddling anti-semitic tropes
So now you’re only allowed to portray Jewish people in a good light otherwise you’re anti-semitic? Stop the world I want to get off…
Lordy. It’s like Reds under the bed. Dude who wrote the show is Jewish too.
Did you see this one?
I’m confused. Don’t you have to be kinda antisemitic to make the link in the first place?
Bastille Day Netflix is a cracking little movie.
Another old fashioned “spy thriller”
Idris Elba is ok as a spook, twists & turns & a smile on the face throughout
I watched one and a quarter episodes of Cursed and it offended my plot and setting sensibilities too much. There are so many good books out there in this genre that they should film rather than this.
Seriously, I got 10 minutes into the first episode and gave up…
It didn’t improve.
Bastille Day is another film you recommended that returns nothing on a Netflix search here in the UK. The same for “Unlocked”
For some reason we call it “The Take”. It was on tv a month or so ago. Game of Throes Robb Stark plays a pickpocket who gets into shit. Also stars Thierry Godard from Spiral and a cute female lead.
Yeah I saw that, but even searching that on Netflix returns nothing. Its on Amazon but even if you have Prime you have to pay for it.
Weird.
Although I am used to having different stuff due to territorial issues.
Maybe you could VPN to Poland
I’ll check dodgy streaming service
Prime in UK. How odd must check more carefully in future. My bad
Rewatching ‘Derek’. Gervais again, but he has a knack of dealing with important themes an in amongst the cringe are some wonderful emotive themes…
It isn’t on Netflix here, but was in Dubai.
Most will have seen it.
But, the last 3 episodes of S3 of Westworld are some of the best SciFi I have seen on TV.
Rest of the show was great but confused timelines S3 was just Wow.
