Things I have watched recently:

Ultraman - Netflix anime, shittier Version of invincible. Just about watchable.

Vikings Valhalla - I’ve watched all the Vikings series and love them despite obvious flaws. Thought this was a worthy addition to the series.

The last Kingdom, season 4 - I watched the other 3 seasons at a time when struggling to find anything else to watch on Netflix. I enjoyed them but always felt it was pandering a bit too far towards the females, gays and WWE audience due to inexplicable omnipotentcy of Utred . This time out I watched it straight after watching the new Vikings series and the difference in production quality and acting was too painfully obvious I had to give up after 1.5 episodes.

Handmaid’s tale season 4 - binged the other 3 seasons but found them quite a difficult watch. Have forgotten all the characters and story now and can’t be bothered to put in the required effort in to refamiliarise myself with so I’ve given up after one episode. Would probably find it easier if they’d have cast someone sexy to be the main handmaid. It’s got an isle of wight ice cream man descendant in.

Picard - total shit, but I’m watching it any case.

Did you just drop that trekkie bomb in for the badness, I felt is great for people who like Star Trek but aren’t fanatical fanboys…?

Agree with you on Vikings

The rest I’ve not seen

I’m not a fanatical fanboy although I did have a picture of the Borg queen on my bedroom wall growing up and have probably watched most of the Trek universe.

I would put Picard in the same bracket as Last of the Summer wine, Miss Marple and diagnosis murder. It’s comfort food for people who are close to death and have completely lost the will to keep on top of the latest bullshit developments in society.

A bit harsh I would say, but made me chuckle :grinning:

Sadly this actually says more about you for posting it than anyone who stayed with the series and have enjoyed it so far. Can I assume that you haven’t actually watched it - or if you have you stuck with every episode out of morbid curiosity?

This probably explains a lot

Keep up the good work.

I 100% agree with it.

Put all of Star Trek into a blender and dole out the results.

Anyone with any sense would have gotten out of Picard episode one, season one. I did not have the sense to do that.

You’re watching a doddering old arse shit on the best thing he ever did and you’re applauding it. That’s the real plot twist of Picard season one.

It’s why I never bothered with S2.

You might be pleasantly surprised

90s Trek is pretty special to me. Indeed, the best thing I can say about the new series is that Voyager and Enterprise now suddenly look like masterpieces.

I think what Scorcese said about Marvel films now ultimately applies to Trek. Do me a big favour. Watch “Measure of a Man” from season 2, a season where TNG still hadn’t really got going.

It has no flashy effects. The entire premise is about whether Data is property or free to make his own decisions. It is a parable for all ages.

It’s better than any post 2009 Trek.

I do recall it and yes it’s good.

Thanks for that, had a good laugh at it.
Wonderful, talented nonsense

Sadly I’ve watched all but the very latest episode of Picard season 2. It’s comfort food that makes me feel like shit afterwards. I’m probably willing to concede that it’s better than season 1, mainly because I’ve always loved Q and the Borg Queen as characters. However I’m not completely sure whether the comparison is valid as I seem to have mentally blocked all memory of the season 1 plot.

Discovery isn’t as bad in my opinion.

Nailed it - apart from the feeling shit afterwards bit

S1 was hard work. S2 has got better as it has gone along.

Love Q, Not sure about the Borg Queen though.

Think I now know what S1 was actually about (no not gonna post a spoiler) I’m seeing the show in a slightly different light.
If I’m right then yes it isnt Trek per se, yes it is something lovingly new

That’s because it went off canon and gave us heaving bosoms…
