Well, the last episode of Picard wasn’t shit was it.
Liked the humour from the oldies in particular
Liked the way it was left open for a series with Picard jnr and 7
And as @pap said “ and what a delicious lady Jeri Ryan still is.”

Still absolutely smoking and totally owned that role.
Despite not watching a single bit of Trek this weekend I have, as they say, gone deep.
First up, I watched “What We Left Behind”, a wonderful DS9 doc. Ira Steven Behr, showrunner, mixes interviews with a writers breakdown of the first episode of DS9 season eight with the surviving old writers.
One slightly sad thing is life imitating art. They kill Nog off in the pilot episode. Aron Eisenberg , the dude who played him, died in 2019, a year after the doc released. Part of me hopes they all knew.
Onto happier news. The Shuttlepod is a wonderful YouTube podcast fronted by Enterprise alumni Dominic Keating and Conor Trineer.
Keating in particular is hilarious
Not a lot of people know this
I love Lucy…
Allegedly incorrect - Buried in here is a rebuttal
Interesting.
Equally I remember the big Desilu Productions over the picture of an Orion Slave Girl Dancer in TOS
So eventually after a number of sales Desilu became part of Paramount Productions
What?
How?
Why?

Mariner & Boimler in SNW?
WTF?
For those without dodgy streams or subscriptions but with a VPN…

I would like the ship to go.
Now.
Oh welcome back and love how they’ve made a thing of the thing
WTAF you saying Phil?
You’ve been off the giggle-juice too long
Strange New Worlds is back.
S2 Ep1. No spoilers. But that line follows directly from the last line in Picard S3 and it was
As for a review.
Phwoar.
Heck even WOWZA.
Need to watch S1 so a bit lost on me tbf
Everyone loves a Courtroom drama.
And stirring in prejudice makes for
A gripping Star Trek episode?
Never saw that coming.
Strange New Worlds S2 Ep2
Wonderfully gripping and follows on from the tremendous writing of Picard
With my “Summer Holiday” getting in the way, I’ve had to catch up 2 Strange New Worlds Episodes.
Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow is a Time Travel tale and for the first time brings #New Kirk into the front of house. And tbh he is great. He has a lot of Kirkisms’ about him. But overall the episode is too long, has ome huge plot holes to move the story along.
It’s enjoyable but the writing and editing/pacing was just a tad flat.
Amongst the Lotus Eaters - Ep 4 was much more TOS.
Strange Planet, strange things happening, an old Castle, guards with sort of Mongolian Hats on - so many hints to old TOS episodes. And,
Yes, Rygel VII was the planet and storyline from the very first episode of Star Trek - The Cage - so from that perspective it answered a 50 year old question
(Which of course I didn’t remember in detail but I did have a “Rygel VII”? Have I heard of that? I have heard of that… moment)
This was not earth shattering but it was a classic Trek episode
We move on, last week was Charades, a Spock back story episode that also involved some classic odd Trek (no spoilers) and again was enjoyable.
THis week we had Lost in Translation which was again a classic old Trek story - a Nebula - was Uhura centric (ish) and brought Lt James T Kirk onto the Enterprise for the first time.
The core story here was not anything special - it was pretty clear all the way through but it was entertaining, there was some great inter-crew moments, it really showed up “new Kirk” and tbh, had a spine tingling “biggest moment in Trek Canon”
This was good shit

Where to start?
I’m not sure many of us have watched both Lower Decks & Strange New Worlds.
Also of those, probably, like me they were thinking
How the Fvck can you have a “Crossover” episode between a Real Life Show & a Cartoon.
And then even IF I had the bandwidth, I’d ask, how can that mpve the Trek Universe forwards?
Well. I just saw it, it was wonderful, corny, cheesy and genius writing.
Possibly the best “post TOS” TOS style episode ever?
Superb
I am catching up with Strange New Worlds. Im still on S1 and have just finished the one which wraps up the Doctor’s daughter plot.
In general, i liked the episode but i would like to flag safeguarding in Starfleet.
It never sat right with me that Wesley Crusher fucked off with The Traveller in TNG and this episode of SNW bithered me too.
Does no-one in Starfleet ever think “potential space nonce”?
