I have found that 21st Century Trek is best consumed with 20th Century Trek.
So for every episode of Picard I watch I do about five episodes of a mix of TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT.

I am grimly marching toward the end of Star Trek Picard.
I’m not really enjoying it. Check out my OP, and you’ll realise why. It’s the complete opposite of what I wanted out of a new Star Trek show.
I am joyously mopping up the simplicity of the complexity of Picard.
I’m enjoying every second. It is portraying a Don Quioxte quest of a 100+ year old fantasist and is placed to him perfectly.
It hints at deeper meaning at revelations to come in the way you feel at that moment before you plunge the corkscrew into the stopper of a 15 year old Chateau neuf du Pape.
A show where each new special guest pulls memories from the depths of our younger days.
Like watching a Test Series unfold over the crash bang of the Hundred or as it’s better know, Discovery
I’m afraid the outcome of this series for you was predetermined, yes it has flaws but it is still an excellent series IMHO

No it wasn’t. I knew very little about it going in. It was only when I started watching it that I realised how empty and vacant it is, and it’s not like I haven’t explained myself.
The only decent thing about Picard is that it’s put me on a TNG bender. I’ve watched a shitload of bangers recently, most of them sustained by dialogue and character progression.
This is popcorn for the eyes and just as filling, without providing any kind of sustenance.
I’ve watched episodes 1-3. It’s not doing it for me. I’m not sure I can be bothered to watch it anymore.

The best thing I can say about Picard is that it makes all the nineties and early 2000s stuff look absolutely sublime.

This is dumb shit, and I’ll go on record as saying I can be in the mood for dumb shit. It has made up some of my favourite comedy.
I just don’t expect it in Star Trek, and I’ve been less impressed with the sight of a Borg cube every time I’ve seen one. Borg cube revealed at the end of episode one.

It’s just like Star Wars. Box-ticking of the highest order orchestrated by people that only have a superficial understanding of the source material they’re supposed to be continuing.
I love Picard.
BUT I agree it could be better.
Which brings me to a movie I watched again last night.
It COULD have been a classic sci-fi. But it wasnt.

Probably the best episode of the run so far. Old school TNG fans can look forward to seeing a couple more crew members.
Still very fucking dumb in parts.
Not surprised at all.
I’ve got the whole slow burn vibe of the story.
And yes, it was a great episode of Trek.
And with the “in next weeks’” glimpse I almost got excited instead of wallowing in memories.
Two flashback memories now stuck in my head.
