Agree, but think Sturridge will be back by then so it may be close. At least until 2nd half.
we will beat Liverpool. Sturridge will make a comeback and get injured again before the tie, as will benteke.
Job done in the end after a dire first half.
I’m always pleased when Yoshi does well. Okay, he’s not the greatest player to ever wear the shirt, but I really like the bloke, especially his let’s-knuckle-down-and-get-on-with-it attitude.
I kept a very close eye on JWP tonight and I thought that his shoulders went down on a couple of occasions after he messed up. I hope I’m wrong, but it appeared to me that he might be having some self-confidence issues; perhaps he’s picking up on the negativity aimed his way by some supporters? If ever a player needs a goal or to put in a motm performance JWP does; however, imo, on tonight’s showing, he’s some way from warranting a place in the starting line-up, so I think his opportunities will be limited.

I went to the game as usual…couldn’t resist the concessionary rate. As it turned out the first half was worth about a quid and the second six quid so overall I’d say it was value for money. Was willing Gaston to have a good game but if I’m honest he looked lightweight and ring-rusty and as we all know there’s nothing worse than a…etc etc.
Tadic is another class…constant threat from the moment he came on…great set-up for Pele’s clinical finish.
Watched the highlights on Ch 5 later on…scant fare and the pundits (?) didn’t utter the word “Southampton” once…not a word…not one single syllable. Who were Villa playing??? can’t remember, it’ll come to me in a minute.

Called it at the time. You could see that he’d curved his run beautifully and fully deserved the attempt on goal. Lino down that side gave a few poor decisions.
Van Dijk’s challenge for the penalty was directly in front of me and I thought it was a mite clumsy but fair. Think Ayew’s theatrics convinced the ref.
Also thought that Yoshida may have scuffed his shot and the more I see it the more I’m convinced of this! Take nothing away from it, mind - magnificent piece of play.
