I’m really proud of Saints today. Context is incredibly important and the following list demonstrates the disgusting and disproportionate amount of money that City have spent relative to us (and many others), yet on two occasions KDB, arguably the best player in the premier league, twice took the ball in to the corner flag.
When Guardiola and Klopp are crying about wanting five subs, Pep brings on just the one sub. Oh, and he cost them £60m. Whereas we brought on two academy lads.
Each corresponding number is £ Sterling. Saints have never spent more than £20m on a player (Ings/Carrillo). Perspective.

We played well and a draw or even a win wouldn’t have flattered us. As so often lack of final product, we look a bit toothless in front of goal at times apart from Danny before he did his knee. He’s probably our only clinical striker and will be a big miss again, let’s hope it’s not too serious.

We played well but maybe should have gone more direct in the last 10, maybe we can’t do it that way, irrespective this is a good loss if ever there is such a thing.

A bit of a philosopher is our Ralph by the sound of it, a bit more to him than your average football coach. Sam Allardice he’s not. He’s a fine pianist apparently, one of the first things he had shipped over when he settled at Saints was his Steinway baby grand piano.

Disappointing, but a good performance. We matched them except for finishing one chance. Vestergaard is looking more and more like VVD2, such an evolution from last season. I liked Che’s game too, bit good everywhere except Redmond, sorry to say.
But Mike Dean won it for them. Missing a blatant yellow, clear handball pen and another possible for the high boot on Danny. At the other end, they would have been given. Loved Ralph’s diplomatic comments (and Prime weren’t even going to mention the handball). “You would think with a referee and VAR they get it right, so you have to accept it”. Translation: “With and experienced ref and VAR, how the fuck did they not give that?”

Absolutely right. To be fair, some nice words from Guardiola in his post match interview.
“It’s difficult. They don’t allow you to be compact, that’s why they are so good. That’s why they are creating problems. They have the best free kick taker I have seen in my life in James Ward Prowse. Ralph is doing an excellent job. It’s a good result for us”.
