You promised not to tell…
I see that Phil’s taken one for the team here
Good lad
Ahhh…do you remember the relaxation that’s generated by supporting a winning team?
That calming warm breeze as you gently swing in the Hammock strung between two Palms. The waiter offers to fetch another Rum Cocktail of your choice while two lissom bikini clad lovelies rompse in the shallow turquoise sea.
All is well in the World again, no unexpected results can touch you today, we have our three points, nobody can take them away.
Ahhhhhh.
What’s the S Australian Chardonnay? This could be nearby to me!
Will rummage in the trash bag tomorrow if that’s OK.
It was a cheap Lidl special but nice
That’s cool. Cheap but nice I think we have all fallen in that category at one point of our lives
That’s Lidl 24/7 tbh g
Just seen MOTD2. Very surprised Moss on VAR didn’t give Burnley a second pen for Bednarek’s shirt pull. Blatant. Perhaps making up for not giving the foul on KWP before the VAR pen that was given. But that’s two VAR wrongs when it’s supposed to eliminate errors. Mess.
Yeah I was convinced at the time they’d have a look at that, was pretty blatant.
Apparently a shirt pull is not a foul if the shirt wearer was not impeded. Wood got to the ball and made his header so not a foul.
To be honest, if a penalty was given every time there was shirt pulling in the area, there would be about ten penalties every game. They all do it.
This is where football is pathetic. In Rugby, for example, if there’s a rule change that results in lots of penalties, players soon adapt rather than complaining that there are too many penalties so interpretation has to change to fit what players habitually do.
In soccer, shirt-pulling, handball and so much more are ignored on the basis of subjective interpretation of what players do, so we can’t do anything about it.
Whilst attempting to be ridiculously precise about offside by millimetres, keepers standing on their line and the exact point of contact on a player’s arm/shoulder.
Just fyi. ICC have changed the LBW DRS specs today.
Wicket now extends to top of the bails not the bottom.
Simple, specific & explained.
Unlike VAR
Have you noticed how far Forster and McCarthy overstep at the edge of the penalty area when kicking the ball from their hands.
In the old days the linesman would stand in line with the edge of the penalty to check the goalie didn’t overstep. They would then sprint up to position themselves in line with the last defended to monitor offsides.
When did the rule change? I must have missed it when it did.
Also Forster does seem far more mobile these days. And punches clear more.
A notable improvement
I’d much rather he caught the ball tbf.
I think with Forster it’s all about confidence. Before he got that serious injury he was being picked for England, regular talk about ‘big’ clubs coming in for him due to his performances for the Saints. When he returned after the injury he seemed a shadow of the old Forster, fumbling, hesitant, clearly lacking in confidence. The cruciate injury, and perhaps a fear of aggravating it was probably always at the back of his mind, and stopped him putting himself on the line in some situations. But he wouldn’t have lost his abilities, gone from being a highly rated keeper to a crap one. I reckon his spell at Celtic sorted his head out. He was well regarded up there, playing in the European Cup, man of the match a couple of times, making crucial last minute penalty saves and a general all round hero. Would have done wonders for his self belief. I know Celtic were desperate to keep him, but couldn’t afford it. Their loss is our gain maybe.
He did catch on a few occasions, the times he punched out was from a highly crowded six yard box where it is easier to get pushed off balance and fumble. Overall I think he has looked pretty decent since his return to the first team, and long may it continue as the competition for that position can only be good for the team.
