Spent many an hour as a nipper at this place. When the tide went out little islands appeared, you could get to them, but could find yourself stuck for a few hours up a tree, once the tide came back in. This all happened in the wooded area to the left of this picture. All seemed so wonderful back then!
It’s funny you should say that Lou because I used to live in Coxford Close…so I might even know you.
You might well do! But you’ll only know for sure if you come along to pre match drinks…
Yep I’d love to but it’s very awkward on match days. I car share with a mate who sits next to me and we park south of the stadium, virtually under the Itchen Bridge. We use my car one match and his the next so each has to fit into the other’s pre and post match social arrangements. The only pub we pass on our walk to the stadium is The Chapel.
^^^^ Possibly St Denys Road.
Are these bowling greens still at the sporty? We used to play footy on them!

Aaah! The Old Thatch.
Got up to a few things in there.
Any ideas for the date? 70’s?
The Bedford hotel, a long time before it became my watering hole before home games in the early 90’s! Anyone else used to drink in here, pop to Ted’s chippy and stumble to the ground?
