What a fantastic old building this was!
Since moving up north I have noticed the difference, with this thread in mind, that up north they keep a lot of their old buildings and streets. Loads of cobbled streets, in a City with so much character on the back drop of the lakes and the hills in the outskirts. Love it up here.
I look at a lot of the buildings and think, down south, they would have knocked this down and build apartments or offices by now!

Back Row: My Uncle Arthur, Uncle Bill
Front Row: Uncle Rex, Granddad Cyril, Auntie Roger (itās a long story) and Sid the lodger.
Apparently, the internal postman used to deliver letters etc to the various wards by riding his bicycle up the quarter of a mile long corridor. Trouble was, the building was badly designed and never really functioned well as a hospital. Agree with you, though, Sfcsim, itās a shame people couldnāt have kept it intact by turning it into apartments or something.
Once it became a bar, I used to drink in there pre match pretty much every week for a couple of seasons. Also managed to get punched in the face there, on a non match evening, by one of the McCarthy brothers of local boxing semi-fame.
Thatās brilliant! Iām in Southampton that weekend
The start of THAT bridge!
