:southampton: 🖼 Southampton - Past in pictures - places & people

Now, I am unsure, if people are still looking at these, but I am sure they are. The process is a very long winded one and not many people are responding or voting up, with the exception of a few.

I still have quite a few to post, but not if people are getting a little tired and not looking? I have no idea apart from the 3k that shows having looked at them, they must be non-members!

Millbrook?

Yep…Looks like Cumbrian Way, Millbook Estate…early '50s.

It looks so clean, fresh and new…

This is an interesting map/sketch looking up from the docks up through town. One the left Southampton Castle. I did not even know Southampton had a castle!

On South Today tonight a piece on Henry V with Southampton. It starts at 19:00mins and Southampton at 22:00

Where is this?

Top of lodge road, avenue end?

Cannot work this one out, as it looks like Matty, but a rare through ball on goal? Normally beats a couple of players and blasts the ball in the top corner from 25/30 yards. I can only reall remember him once being played through on goal, in the early 90’s against Blackburn, when unleashed a shot into the top corner. This looks like Everton or Leicester.

There used to be some very similar style houses on Empress Road - which looking at google maps/earth have been knocked down. Could it have been the northam area when there were houses before they put up the flats?

Archers road end. Lived on Archers Road late 80’s and over hill lane on Howard Road lates 80’s very early 90’s.

Says Bursledon post office. So Bursledon? Should be easy to find out the address of an old post office.

Its in High Street, Old Bursledon. Just along from The Vine. Its still called the Old Post Office, but has been a private residence for over 30 years.
