Southampton FC ("Kings of the South") vs. Manchester's 2nd Team

I’m assuming @themightyostrich identifies as masculine, I’m sorry if it doesn’t…

Considerably more positive and agressive play today I thought. We pushed them back for pretty much all of the second half, and they were defending pretty desperately for a fair part of that. We need to get scoring, but I have the feeling that once Gabbiadini gets one he’ll get a shedload.

Interested to note the mentions of Lukaku fouling Hoedt in the build-up to their goal; couldn’t see that from the Kingsland so I guess I’ll have to watch some highlights to see how it looks.

Thought Tadic played very well today; so did the rest of the team, but his performances have been below par for so long that I thought it worthy of mention.

Ah I now I understand.

It turned out Utd were there for the taking . Not sure Tadic did enough to today to warrent a place in the first team. If we could find an upgrade for SD we would beat them 9 times out of 10

United were a handful in the first half and defended well in the second half. Also, De Gea is excellent, and has been keeping them in games they should never have gotten anything from since Ferguson’s departure. Small family side fact. Young Adult Unit #2 reckons De Gea looks like he’s from Yorkshire. I concur, but remind her that he is in fact, Spanish.

Returning to the point, only Stoke have put a competitive goal past United this season. Whatever else they may be, they can defend, and that alone makes them title contenders. Throw in some frit match officials and some truly talented players and they’ll go far. We were lucky not to face Pogba today.

I don’t want the fuckers to win it, though. They’re not going about things the right way, for starters. MouMou is basically trolling Guardiola, attempting to prove that you can play as pretty as you like, yet still lose. If United win the Premier League this year, stay the fuck away from Manchester. MouMou will cum so hard that he’ll spooge over large areas of the North West.

I don’t think they’ll do it, personally. It’ll be the team with the massive chequebook from the same city. The spooge won’t get any further than the boundary set out by the M60 circular, and it’ll be cultured and fragrant

The Lukaku push was a two handed shove, but he was early doing it, so Hoedt is at fault. He had time to reposition himself, but looked scared and appeared more worried about Lukaku than getting the ball(i have watched it a few times).

@btripz As my sotonians guru.

When can I start going on about the Potter’s game?

Is a pre jizz thread allowed?

If not is it really that wrong?

Wouldn’t a glamorous new after match thread encourage people to repeat themselves and add traffic?

Thought Davis had a pretty good game today. Tadic upgrade needed for me (though even he wasn’t as shit as usual).

Out of Tadic or Redmond, I’d have Tadic. They both need upgrading but Redmond has been so ineffectual for so long now that he needs dropping. I read on SWF that gabbiadini is more a second striker and can play wide in a front 3… Not sure if that’s accurate but if so then play him in Redmond’s place. In fact, even if it’s not true play him.

Both Tadic and Redmond seem to take a load of flak. I only saw the highlights, but it seemed to be constant Saints pressure and some lovely one touch passing. Not many chances created though. Why can’t we score? It’s something ridiculous like 16 hours without a goal from open play.

I thought the team were excellent today (except for not scoring of course, though we came closer than usual in the second half).

Tadic was much improved IMO. Redmond was the only weak link.

Overall we gave it a bloody good effort and I am sure it was much better than most people watching had expected before KO.

Important takeaway from yesterday.

Don’t drink Lowenbrau.

Oh and drop Redmond next week keep formation the same but let Gabi & Shlong rotate in his position

Typical MoTd editing didn’t reflect the Saints’ highlights mostly Man U…for example where was the assault on Long by Jones just outside the box that the ref and linesman ignored. Fuckin’ blatent foul when that lummox simply sat on Long. Jones was the last man, Long was through and the ref and MoTd bottled it. :lou_angry:

I haven’t even seen Lowenbrau in England since 1982. Is it the same batch that you were drinking?

The match threads are the pre, intra and post threads for each of the matches in question.

If you really feel you need to talk about the next match then you need to PM @themightyostrich and encourage him to pull his wings out. Failing that start a thread entitled “When are we going to start Potty talking?” and harrass and harangue @themightyostrich until he caves in…

Like I said my initial reaction (and it was right in front of me) was that it was a push. If that was the case it should have been penalised but, once again, the match officials were too scared to do anything about it.

Fourth point :-

I think it reflects on how dominant we were in the second half that Moaninho took off an AM (Mickeywhotsits) and brought on a CB (Smalling)

Felt like it this morning…

I tried to pick up my towel after my morning swim and nearly collapsed (again)

MoFo

Although, this could equally have been the cause.

4 Steins of Beer during a football match, what did I expect to go wrong?

My point is that the position SD occupies in the team is so crucial we need an upgrade so the strike force get decent service. He played well for him but he represents mediocracy and is he is not the danger we need in attacking midfield.

On the strikers Id like us to block Everton from getting Giroud in Jan. Pay for a mega bus season ticket so he can still live in the smoke. We would need to sell Charlie unfortunatley but I would like to think bournmouth might buy him
