Exactly and I jumped on human rights side a long long time ago, Amnesty Intl has always been my charity and have given for years, religion and cultural rights are well in the distance over a persons human rights.
The point being that the moral judgemnet is left to those with the loudest and most powerful voice, not what rational folks would suggest is the right code.
I have to laugh at those that spend so much time expecting rapid and seemless ‘integration’ of diverse religious culture into our ‘civilised’ western world… I mean what example of this happening within ageneration do we take? The wonderful integration of black and hispanic peoples in the US?
So Barry, are you going to stand outside the Israeli embassy and protest against circumcism, or just about female genital mutilation? I know you stated all religious shit is bad… but your posts seem to dwell on those prcatices taht have adistrinctly Arab feel to them…
Again, can the Qur’an, Torah and evangelical Christians be swayed? That isn’t integration thats concession to the written word, you think they’ll amend it?
They’re as bad as each other, circumcision shouldn’t happen without consent unless its medically needed, then under anaesthetic, Muslims are circumised you know? Backward cultural/religious practice.
you know that Catholics aren’t allowed abortions? Irish women have been coming to this country for decades to have secret terminations. How long will it take for these cultures to change? I’m getting worried because there’s been a lot of blood/blood mixing between English and Irish bit this problem still exists.
I’ve started on the booze and the cheese.
haha. I’m also on cheese and have had to stop the booze as I can’t see anymore! LOL! That’s actually all true
I did know that yes, that is not a culture that is religious doctrine, the religion permeates the culture after a while, all the good and all the bad, I have said question all of it.
So then Baz, all ready for Christmas ?
Yes mate, presents are all done etc etc watching Die Hard with the wife, very festive indeed ha ha!
Same here. I make Mrs G wear a dirty vest.
Ha Ha we have them already with milk and shite everywhere!
Mm. I went to Brazil in early 2015. Apparently every other day a woman somewhere in Brazil will die trying to end a pregnancy, either herself or in a backstreet clinic.
Religion really has had its time.

Well if integration is a real challenge, and might influence our moral code in a manner which we find unpaletable, then one might be forgiven for asking why we oughtn’t be more selective in our immigration policy depending on which peoples from which cultures are arriving into our society?
Sorry, but your thinking here is both lazy and wrong. There is no “liberalism” such as that which you descirbe (or, to be more accurate, that you caricature). You are correct in your second paragraph, but I’ve never yet met anyone who believes that eveyone can be allowed to do just what the fuck they like, regardless of anybody else. What you’ve put up here is a false dichotomy.
We can all invent things to rail against (multiculturalism being a fine example of this, given that those who shout most loudly that it has ‘failed’ never seem to be able to define what it actually is or was in the first place). When it comes right down to it, if you follow that route you’re just another man shouting at a cloud. Lest you take offence, this last bit isn’t aimed at you - it’s a general observation.
a statistic that I read said the average number of abortions per woman in Russia is 7. That’s not a particularly religious country.
