Site suggestions and feature requests

Not sure if its been mentioned or if I’m just missing something but on my phone (the only time I use the site) when I click on a thread it takes me to the first post and I have to waste valuable seconds forwarding through the pages to the last post I read. Can you change it so it takes me to the last time I accessed the thread? If yes, please do it. If no, fuck you and this fucking place.

Has been mentioned before. It’s on the list. We will regain your valuable seconds.

I’d like to see a ginormous “Back to the top” button stretching from top to bottom in that dead space on the left.

There are other things I’d like to see too, but the internet has that mostly covered.

Thank you for your swift response and reassurances, pap.

There’s an unsubscribe button at the top of every thread you’ve subscribed to

Oh Lord Papster, if one may be so forward, would multi-quoting be beyond the wit of one’s excellent programmatic and API leverage skills??

Dear Sir.

When I click on a helpfully donated link, it replaces the Glorious Papweb, instead of opening a new page like it does on that (ahem) other site.

Is this just me being a prick?

Signed.

You have to ask. That makes me jealous. Whenever I ask that question to myself I already know the correct answer.

Users can actually set the link location when creating the link. From a consumer’s point of view though, you’re fecked if someone doesn’t do it.

I tend to right click links and explicitly open in a new tab.

One thanks you, kind Sir.

With this knowledge and the earlier tip of using the (previously untouched) Ctrl button, I feel suitably empowered in a strange geeky way.

So, when I do the image link thing & I paste the Tiny Pics link it then asks me what bloody size I want it to be (I thought only ladies ever asked that question) but it just gives me two bloody empty boxes & no pull down (usually my response to the size question).

Anyway how the fark do I do that cos I’m not literate in Computers I work in the Industry ffs

Don’t know if this has been asked before but can we have external links opening in a new window/tab/whatever?

Often forget to hit the back arrow on my browser so have to go and find the OG post.

Pap old bean, is it possible to only get one email about replies to subscribed threads (a la Steveweb) until you have visited said subscribed thread? Would reduce the number of emails in my inbox for sure.

Programming wise I have it all in my brain, whether is can be done or not is another thing?

dunno if it’s on ur list already, pap, but can you fix it so when I click in a thread, it goes to the most recent page?

To anyone old enough to remember playing asteroids, clicking on just about anything on this site is similar to hitting hyperspace. You don’t have a fucking clue where you will end up!

Yeah, it’s on my list. I’ve been really busy this weekend picking the daughter up from University in Central London. It’s not a quick thing to do right, unfortunately. It essentially involves creating automatic bookmarks for each user, that remembers which page they were last on. e.g. Forum addicts like us might be on page 12 of a thread, but other people might not be.

Come of it Pap. Picking up your own daughter is a piece of piss. Skates can do it in 3 seconds flat.

Just an update on the bookmarking. I’ll soon (probs around midnight tonight) be launching some code that’ll remember the last page of any thread you were on, and the last post of that thread the last time you visited.

From your point of view, you’ll just be able to click a thread title and it should take you to the last post you saw. Will confirm when uploaded.

The bookmarking is now in.

You also land on the end of a thread when posting something. Huzzah!

I’ve spent some time giving this a wee crack of the whip, both logged in and logged out. It’ll work cross device, so if you log in on your tablet or whatever, your bookmarks on each topic will be remembered.

First time into a thread you’ll need to click a page number, but after that, you should be all set. One slight implementation detail. It remembers the last page of a topic you visited, not the highest.

Thanks for doing that Pap. I thought you were heading for SWF style suggestions for a while there.

Hey, sorry if you are aware of this, but clicking on ‘Latest By’ on a post keeps returning the below error page. I keep getting this on phone/tablet & mac (yes, yes I know pap)

How the fuck do you upload a pic to this place?
