Incomplete information and people filling in the gaps with their imaginations. I was infamously a victim of this. Remember when I thought @Barry-Sanchez was dune? I convinced myself ot it, convinced everyone else that I was a presumptuous idiot who’d just built and constructed an epic win trophy for Mr Sanchez. Fucking mortifying.
