It’s not an alien concept to me. The history books are riddled with people standing and fighting for causes they think they were right on, but hindsight shows they were in fact a bit wrong.

Of course it wasn’t officially segregated and on occasions the barriers were crossed, but it was far from the norm. The level of integration between the different groups was not unlike what Barry complains about on his thread. Even in the classrooms the segregation remained to a large extent. The flower estates people tended to be thick as shit and ended up in the lower sets. The Asians were inexplicably nearly all put in the same house (Nichol) and so chances of mixing with them was drastically reduced if you weren’t in Nichol or Woolbridge.
I never got filled in, but you as a forty something year old goblin trying to spin physical violence as something potentially positive about the school sounds ridiculous.
