Nothing massive, but I’m hoping it fixes a bug I’ve seen relating to linking to images on insecure servers (http instead of https).

We may experience some image issues in the short term as a load of background tasks optimise all our uploaded images.

We’ve just upgraded from 2.2.0 beta7 through beta8 to beta 9. If you’re finding it difficult to nod off tonight, you can read all about it below…

Oh is that what it was?

Press the smiley face thing at the bottom of a post and you’re able to react (retort) with an image…

Who she?

Phoebe Bridgers, Cobber.

Folk-ish artist, just released an album with Conor Oberst and I’m a little obsessed with them(her) at the moment.

Ah, I was hoping the explanation was going to be a bit saucier tbh

:lou_sad:

Has she taken out a restraining order or shall we let her know?

Sotonians is going down for a while in a while

And we’re back.

For the curious, I had noticed a bug when scrolling to the bottom of some topics - it wouldn’t scroll to the end and in the JavaScript console it was clear that something had gone b!n$# behind the scenes.

I’m hoping that an update to one of our plugins has fixed it.

How come I managed to post during your 'downtime? scary

Parallel universe?

I was thinking of mentioning that, as it happened to me a few times. Refreshing the page got it back, but it was a mite irritating.

Lol.

No, I’m a pessimist and like to under-promise and over-deliver.

The process of upgrading usually only ‘bounces’ the server right at the very end for a short amount of time (2 mins). If I find a problem during the upgrade I need to keep the server down whilst I fix it so I set the expectation accordingly.

So you were able to post by luck and good fortune.

I bet if you shut your eyes and crossed the M1 once a day at random times, you might not get hit either, but don’t come crying to me if some magnum opus or other ends up as a JSON object in your browser cache that none of us can enjoy.

You have been warned.

Yeah, I couldn’t quite nail down the steps to reproduce it so I can’t tell if it’s fixed.

It’d be good if you could keep an eye out for it, ta.

Used to be if I sat at the bottom of a topic for a little while, generally whilst composing a reply, the stuff under the last post would generally vanish.

I was going to mention it as well but, you know, other things got in the way.
