I dont disagree, but I would come back on the naive tag - I cant do anything about what Goa is or is not, and we should not speculate on his intentions (probably some good legal not to). But hypothetically, we dont sit on 50mil of cash. As mentioned the money will be paid over 3-4 years and most of it will go straight out again to play other clubs for transfers we still owe on etc… extracting that sort of cash from any club to that extent of fraud would not go unnoticed… whether there is anything that could be done is another matter.
I guess the point why I cant get so fucked off by it is because IMHO it should not matter - worst case is we end of 200mil in leveraged debt, relegated, admin, liquidated… and whatever phoenix club rises from the ashes will be my team… OK so not a particular pleasent scenario, but this is why… Football supporting seems to have become all about status of the club, as opposed to the simple joy and pain of just supporting our local side whatever. The’ rivalry’ has relatively recent roots in late 60s and 70s stoked up by media to sell the game to new fans and TV channels was never what it was originally about. I dont give a flying fuck what divison we are in. I support a club that I just happened to develop a love for aged 5. I did not fall in love with the club because of second div status, or because of being constantly told the Prem is the best league in the world and all the money and media bullshit. This obsession with status just seems all wrong to me. Yes we look for success and celebrate righty, but we should always do so with the knowledge that support is easy when you have success, but the real mettle is how we deal with the shitty times.
Pissing all over the floor at the thought of relegation and doom, only makes one miserable and give rival ‘fans’ the horn,
I am not saying we should not be pissed off or concerned by what owners do, but ultimately the club will be there whatever, and if we want to accept a place at the highest levels we need to accept the riches often attract those with other loyalties than our own - to not accept that is what I would consider naive.
I am not saying my opionion isright or better than anyone elses, but it sure is liberating and makes the enjoyment of simple suppprt that much better for me.

What I do hate is the tedious, repetitive, agenda-driven bullshit coming from one or two posters. Whatever happened to reasoned debate? Barry basically writes the same sentence, over and over and over and over again, in about three different ways - and then the same old posters jump on it with the same old responses - it’s just dull to wade through.

If you ever wondered why some posters fade away, this is a pretty good example of a thread.
For me a forum is meant to be an entertaining sideline to the real world - somewhere to go for a laugh, a rant, or to celebrate rare footballing success - and to slag off crap players.
But you now have a place where several posters are running around waving shitty branches, shouting at people, actively chasing them away.
And when you’ve finally chased away the last of the sensible ones, the end game is three angry people shouting at each other.
Just like the team, if this forum is to get back on track, something has to change.

I agree with other posters. It does feel more and more like Fiverweb every day. At least there you can put the posters you would rather avoid on ignore. Things are bad enough football wise without having to come on here every day and read the same old bile from the same old poster. For his own sake he could probably do with some time out before he has a seizure, and before the rest of us just turn off.
