A sorry state we’re in. First half was OK, passed reasonably well and the new boys, very much a positive. How much of our first half dominance was down to the numerical advantage is difficult to say.
Second half we stood off them, lost our cool and as usual gave the ball away too easily.
When are we going to put two good halves of football together…that’s only happened once this season.
We’ve already seen that Jones is a bad man-manager, lacks tactical nous, is simplistic and confused in his approach but today we saw how abysmal he is at managing a game.
When Lemina went off, we should have immediately switched to four at the back. Maitland-Niles could have moved into midfield. No need for a sub. As Tall Paul tired, should have got Adams or Mara on. Taking the full backs off was utterly bizarre and stupid. Final team after subs should have been
I’m still fuming. Another thought is the bench he selected today. Why Walcott? Pointless…I’m not a huge fan of Diallo but he would have been a good option to close things down. And Elyounoussi and Djenepo must have said something wrong.
On reflection I think I’m pleased we lost. Because if we’d won it would have given us a chance of survival and would have endorsed Jones. I don’t want him as our manager as I don’t believe he can develop us and take us forward. So, sadly, I’ll suck it up but the Board really have to grow a pair and get rid of him.
It’s just lucky for us they didn’t have another couple of players sent off. If they’d been down to 8 men, we’d have been looking at another 9-0 defeat.
Just (against my better judgement) watched MOTD. Two goals that shouldn’t have happened. Two JWP free kicks wasted. But it has to be on Jones who totally failed to respond to Wolves making changes. Except by taking off both full backs. He looks a terrified, nervous wreck on the touchline. Exactly what neither the team nor the fans want. Compare with Wolves manager: calmly watching amd planning.
