:pl: :saints: Saints v Newcastle United :newcastlefc:

tHey should have been made to play only with players available the time + those returned from COVID, not new signings and returns from injury (as should we…)

Unlucky Armstrong

Fuckers

Too many average performances.
Livramento, Armstrong, Broja, Adams.
Poor result. The wheels have come off in the last two games.
Big game on Sunday.

Well, the positive is that the performance was better than last time.

The negative was, we should have beaten those cheating cunts - how many times did they have “injuries” to break up the play. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

If only someone had suggested cashing out when we were ahead

It’s games like this where I hate being a Saints supporter

Ok. My perspective. I was there. Overall we dominated and played good football. After we scored we were weak closing down the cross for their goal and let Woods? get free for the header. Che hit the bar. We were well on top at half time. Started the second half well. Their free kick that led to the corner and goal wasn’t a foul. For five minutes then we were all over the place but survived. Then had at least 3 chances to equalise - Adams, Armstrong and Long but didn’t happen. They had the odd chance on the break but overall we were far the better team. The sort of game we used to have a lot, but not recently. Newcastle ride their luck but defended well. They also cheated blatantlybwirh a string of Mock injuries. The time they wasted, we should still be playing. Rant over.

Well we had a very good couple of months and probably over achieved, climbing up the table and getting to 35 points the team has now taken their foot of the accelerator which is a shame. We still play some nice stuff but in and around the box we have been poor, even in the Norwich and Everton games we wasted a fuck ton of chances.

Realistically even with a strong finish to the season any higher than 9th looks highly unlikely, and relegation equally as unlikely. Would like to see more energy and confidence on Sunday against a team that are shipping goals at present, as we will need a confidence boost (and a miracle or 2) going into the quarter final against Citeh.

At least you lot don’t have to spend the night in a hotel full of gloating Geordie cunts who seem to think they were the better team and outplayed us.

I so want them to crash and burn

The only Saints player who looked really decent was Walker-Peters. A few others were OK but no better, the rest distinctly below par. Some truly shocking defending for both of their goals and a lack of imagination and cutting edge going forward, especially in the second half.

Hopefully this isn’t a case of burst bubble, as I know we can play a whole lot better than that. Here’s hoping that we do just that on Sunday.

A. Armstrong should start on Sunday. Looked bright and inventive immediately he came on tonight. That is all.

Some of our finest tbh

Agreed. Broja had a pretty poor game and looked like he’d had a knock when he went off. I like Armstrong and, given the chance to develop, I think he could become a very good player. Plus, of course, we’ll still have him next season, whereas the same can’t be said for Broja.

I thought Broja looked distracted rather than injured. He’s only human, he must be a bit concerned about the current Chelsea situation and where it leaves him.

Agreed. We just seemed to have everything go right for us for a while (and for a fucking change, tbh.) Decisions, the run of the ball, and almost every player who got on the pitch seemed to be well and truly on form and up for it, plus Ralph got every tactic spot on. It wasn’t going to last forever.

I did think that too. He’s made quite strong statements about wanting to stay at Saints but that now looks impossible. So he’s bound to be thinking he’s no longer playing the next 10 games with a view to a transfer or further loan. All that can happen is he goes back to Chelsea and hopes.

The only faint light at the end of the tunnel is that Chelsea have dozens of young players out on loan. It’s what they do, or did. Will they pay all their contracts next season when there’s no way they can play, or will they have to agree to cancel some?

If that could happen, it’s clearly in Broja’s interests to be as crap as possible so they don’t want to keep him.
