:saints:🕴 Saints' next manager

I think it will be Pellegrini now. I can feel it in my water! :lou_wink_2:

Vitor Pereira has today denied talking to Southampton & is focused on Fenerbahce. Wonder if this is true, or he’s had a phone call to say he hasn’t got the job!

According to Wikipedia Pellegrini is Southampton manager!

They obviously know more than we do.

Anyone can edit Wikipedia.

They sent me an email once, complaining about an edit I’d made to Jared Padalecki’s entry, the slaphead from Supernatural.

The point of contention was _me _saying that “he was basically the finest human being to walk this earth”.

My admiration for Supernatural starts and ends at them doing god knows how many seasons with on a limited budget. It’s a very cheap show to make, as I constantly reminded Young Adult #1 (then Juvenile Unit #1) at the time.

She was responsible for the entry. Jared Padalecki is possibly not the finest human being ever to walk this planet. Anyone can edit Wikipedia.

Sky bet has Pellegrini 11/8 and Puel 11/4 the rest nowhere. It is now a 2 horse race so Wikipedia could be right.

I am sure it has happened before where Wickepedia got it first.

Ok, so my source didn’t get back to me until late tonight, as there was a lot going on at SMS today. :lou_wink_2:

The following is what I was told, so I simply pass it on in good faith:

Vitor Pereira was informed today that the Board hold him in very high regard and were extremely impressed with his application, but that unfortunately he is out of the running for the position. Cue his statement to the Turkish press [which he could have made at any time during these weeks he’s been linked with the job] that he has had no contact with our Club and remains committed to Fenerbahçe.

Claude Puel has not yet been told that he is out of the running [on hold as backup] – but Manuel Pellegrini has been offered a Three Year contract to become the new Manager of Southampton Football Club. All that remains [should it be accepted] is to iron out a few final contractual details.

An announcement could come as soon as tomorrow [Wednesday], but we expect everything to be tied up within the next 48 hours.

Should the terms of our offer not be accepted for any reasons, Claude Puel will then be offered the job.

But I get the impression that we are confident in securing our preferred candidate, and making an announcement that will excite the fans.

So, that effectively places my balls squarely on the chopping block, and once I click on that little green “Add Post” button any moment now – praying fervently that my old friend is not setting me up for the finale of the greatest wind up ever played on me.

Great news, although knowing Saints this could all still go tits up and we end up with Steve Bruce/Walter Zenga/Noel Edmonds.

One thing though, haven’t they learnt from Ronald the dangers of a 3 year contract? Would have thought 4 years gives us a bit more security.

Also a bigger payout if it doesn’t work out. It is a bit of a departure from our usual kind of appointment. Nothing to say the duration of the contract is not also up for discussion, but that is what we have initially offered anyway.

In four words Jack “Who get’s the job”

I don’t doubt that JS is retelling what he has been told, and in good faith. I appreciate tit bits as much as the next man.

I just won’t be too shocked if some unknown from Brazil is announced. It’s just entirely out of character for the board to allow this type of info out.

Interesting info, Jack. I wouldn’t have put us down as appointing Pellegrini, so would surprise me but wouldn’t be unhappy. It’s a big call to make, Jack. ITKs live or die by this sort of crystal clear announcement.

If it turns out Mr Schitt is correct, who’s going to go onto Grand Old Team and tell them that his posts about Koeman were correct and that they’ve got a complete asshat as a manager?

Yea, no one stays in Saudi for the summer. I followed Norn Iron for the first two games, then went to St. Etienne for the England game. Still in Lyon, deciding whether to complete the wine run down the Loire and come home Monday, or hike back down to Nice.

I am sure the Russian reports are not accurate, but I wouldn’t trust any foreign currency contract issued in Russia at the moment.

And mine went of the surprise resurgence of Steve Wigley

Good luck Jack, I so hope it all goes through. Not only forthe club and your rep but for Sotonians - so funny if ‘we’ managed to get the scoop after all the bullshit :))

Can your contact get Pellegrini to say something along the lines of ’ I am not an asshat?’ at his press conference

Makes a lot of sense now, as MP was still technically under contract with Man City. Great news if this is the case. Being a long way from home and short of news when it comes to football matters (only northeast clubs mentioned up here) having JS’s insight or should I say insider is of great comfort as the only football I hear is my sad brother-in-law going on about Sunderland. Eagerly looking and listening to any news coming out of Soton. So please let it be sotonians who break the news first as has been the case since I joined up.

Pellegrini is the only candidate on the longest ever ‘shortlist’ that takes my fancy. Vast amounts of experience in Europe with top top clubs. He was a one man club as a player and his track record of staying put in managerial roles is also pretty impressive.
