What are you answering “yes” to? I asked two questions, what are your answers to both of them?

Yes, and that’s your choice, but (and I say this is the kindest way I can) I don’t think many people want to be like you are.
lol i am not endorse this view but it made me spit orangina all over keyboard srs
Ok so I think we have everyone’s opinion on religion, so how about reincarnation and I don’t mean coming back as beetles, I mean past lives and such.
i ask this one as there has been investigations into this with some success.
How can there be reincarnation when the World’s population is ever growing?
Bearsy wants to be like me. He wants to walk like me, talk like me too.
Cos I’m the king of Sotonians, the forum V.I.P.
No there hasn’t. What proof do you have for that? Can you link to any credible scientific journal paper on the subject?
I was just responding to your final statement.
No, I don’t believe everything in the Bible, but then I don’t have faith, so it’s a strange thing to ask me.
False hope and belief is good because it allows people to manage their grief when things go wrong in life, but this has been mentioned many times and also there is scientific evidence that this helps with people’s mental health, as already posted above.
Are you denying that those tests are correct?
I am 3rd generation. First I was DPS, then I was reborn as Sarb/Unbelievable Jeff, and now I’m Cherts, so yes, I believe in reincarnation for sure.
Spend time with an advanced practitioner of NLP and Hypnosis and you will get a very solid answer that is very different from the obvious “Yeah God answered my Prayers & I’m a good mate of Rory & Tiger” that you angled for with that unaswerable question
Because you got new ones…like Joey from friends.
Joey: Man, it must be so cool remembering stuff like that! I don’t have any past life memories.
Phoebe: Of course you don’t, sweetie. You’re brand new.
Yes, I am denying those tests are correct. Living a lie isn’t healthy.
Plus you said in the opening post…
“I am currently attending church (and probably will do for the forseeable future) at our local CofE as I think they promote a good course of living for my daughter, and (I believe) set a good example of how to live your life”
Why would you attend a church if you didn’t beleive it is 100% true? If you don’t think it is 100% true then you are making your own independant moral judgements and cherry picking. There is no need to attend church if you are making your own moral judgements.
The Bible offers a horifically bad set of morals to live by. It is homophobic, sexist and says rape, murder, slavery and genocide is all ok.
Why on earth do you want your daugheter to be raised attending a church that promotes such an evil book like the Bible? Even the teaching of Jesus are horrific, he for example was fine with slavery.
Your banter is sorely testing me to go down the local fucking Church, its the best recruitment drive since Jesus turned water into wine…
Define false MLG?
False as in your understanding? The understanding of your experience or education? The experience of your culture?
Your understanding of the world is entirely different from an uneducated Pakistani Citizen living in a farm in the Swat Valley, or a Fisherman living in a hut in the sea off the coast of Indonesia.
Their view of true and false can be very different

Lets take Noah’s ark, that has so many flaws in it that it is quite clearly bullshit.
Plus even if it isn’t meant to be literal, what is the purpose of the story? An all powerful, all knowing God fucked up his creation so threw a strop and decided to kill everything with a big flood and start again. He is clueless, evil and inept if that is the case.
Jonah and the whale is my favourite
False is like saying you have been out all night at Karaoke with Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy doing shots playing around the clock at darts before getting upgraded to a private jet to Glastonbury… and then saying you are not name dropping.
PS jokes Phil I U x

So you’re picking and choosing your science? So if you don’t believe all science, are you just not making it up as you go along?
Plus you said in the opening post…
“I am currently attending church (and probably will do for the forseeable future) at our local CofE as I think they promote a good course of living for my daughter, and (I believe) set a good example of how to live your life”
I also said (and you have seemingly removed it from this post as it disproves your point, so I have included the bits in bold):
…So, does anyone on here follow a religion of any type?
Personally, I don’t, although I am currently attending church (and probably will do for the forseeable future) at our local CofE as I think they promote a good course of living for my daughter, and (I believe) set a good example of how to live your life.

That was also answered in the quote above:
“they promote a good course of living for my daughter, and (I believe) set a good example of how to live your life.”
It’s not about me believing as I don’t.

When was the last time you went to church? The church I am going to promotes NONE of the above, and not many will do nowadays. As you have demonstratably shown you pick and choose your science. So why can’t religions do the same?
Hmmmm, religion. A bit of an internet minefield but here we go…
It has clearly given many many people comfort over the years. It has also caused death and anguish. Man is a supersticious animal and seems to have a need to believe in something bigger. This has been going on for thousands of years and as we know, long before the dieties that many people like to believe in were on Man’s radar. As most here I was brought up CofE and was sent off the Sunday school but that didnt last long. As far as I know my Dad was not a believer. My Mum certainly was after she had a nervours breakdown in her mid 40s. She was convinced that JC would make his Second Coming in her lifetime and died a very disappointed lady. Around my early teens I think I decided that Christianity, as much as it was a touching and nice story, made no sense at all. I would truly love to believe but there isnt a shred of hard factual evidence to show that God is the Creator and that Jesus even existed. So what do we have to go on then? Faith. Or should I say, blind faith. I need to believe because a load of other people believe and tell me I should because it is The Truth. Nope, sorry, doesnt work for me. And as for the arguement that is wheeled out when I say to a believer that there is no evidence and the response is well you cant prove that he doesnt exist, well I am afraid that is just nonsense. There is no need for me to prove that there is no God (and by extension, son of God) because there is no proof that this diety existed in the first place. How can you prove something doesnt exist when it doesnt exist? We are all aware of the Norse Gods and the Gods of the Ancients. The same level of proof exists for their Gods. None. Now lets look at the Pagans. They workshipped things like the seasons, thunder, the elements. All things that we all know exist. The Pagans believed in things that had a tangible effect on their lives. Makes sense. As for praying. Prove that praying doesnt work. If it worked no one would die of cancer. We woiuld all be multi millionaires and sleep with super hot 18 year old women. It is nonsense I’m afraid. But if it gives some people comfort and doesnt harm anyone. knock yourself out if that is what you want. I still think we are a way off working out Life The Universe And Everything. The Big bang Theory is interesting, but is just that, a theory. I hope that we make more progress on the subject in my lifetime but have a feeling that we are some way off yet. If the brightest minds in the last few thousand years havent been able to work out what happened yet, I think we are in for a bit of a wait until we unlock a few more mysteries. I do believe that everything is interconnected through energy and we are all a part of the Universe rather than something apart from it. There, we are all stardust, my hippie roots have been outed again!
The spiritulists would say that your spirt is reborn in a new body. Given that there are probably millions of spirits of different levels of their development there will always be a spirt to be reborn. Simples.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding for what the word theory means in science.
In common usage “theory” can be interchanged with “guess”. That isn’t the case in science, a theory is when a hypothesis graduates through evidence to the highest level it can. Do you dismiss the theory of gravity as “just a theory”?
