If thatās true, I hope heās learned a few lessons since Stoke.
All that really tells you is how difficult it can be to get the right manager. Eddie Howe failed at Burnley as I recall, but I donāt imagine many Toon supporters will feel too fussed about that right now.
Few managers have a record of success and nothing but; itās a question of trying to work out if an individualās attributes will be a good fit at this club.
I get what you are saying but Burnley and Newcastle were vastly different prospects
Stoke and Saints look way too similar
Agree completely
But my best mate is a lifelong Luton fan and would be gutted if Jones left a second time. I donāt need that grief!
Other than playing in red and white, I donāt think that itās possible to know that. Itās not so much the size or status of the club, itās more about the ethos of the place, how things are done, etc. Are Saints and Stoke similar in that way? I have no idea.
As with recruiting players, thereās always a huge element of gambling about appointing a manager. I hope we get this one right.
Whoever takes over will still need to address the cowās arse/banjo problem.
Given the lack of quality upfront, and until we can keep clean sheets, if it takes us 4 clear cut chances to score a single goal then we need a manager and system capable of getting us about 8 per game to give us any chance of winning games. Not easy!
Sorting something with set pieces would be a great start because we are garbage at attacking corners. Static, rarely win the first ball and never put a man on the keeper.
I donāt particularly like the fact that we identified a need for a dedicated set piece coach in the summer, appointed one, he then left after a couple of months, but then decided Selles can do it instead. It makes a mockery of it to a certain extent.
Based upon everything suggesting itās going to be Jones and the fact I know less than nothing about him (standard Saints to be fair), can your mate tell us what we can expect from a playing style at least?
Just hope SR are ready to get the chequebook out in Jan for a striker
Thatās not going to fly.
Hi mate, looks like we might poach your manager. Yes, the one who you took back and welcomed after he fucked off following the last approach.
Anyway, do me a big favour and tell me all about him please, as we donāt have a scooby about him. Cheers!
Might lose a mate.
Fair enough! Iāve been asking around as I donāt live far from Luton and itās fair to say they are disappointed to lose him. However thereās a suggestion the football isnāt great and a bit direct (Bazunu hoof to Adams springs to mind).
Essentially he has done well with a limited budget and low wage bill. There lies the attraction.
Have to assume thereās some sort of suggestion of a track record of developing young players, although I canāt find one.
I hope there is some serious substance to the thinking rather than just looking at the league below and seeing who is punching above their weight. Rasmus Ankerson has surely had his spreadsheets out.
Ultimately the proof will be in the pudding but one thing is for sure, the Twitter fan base are positively underwhelmed.
Iām hoping we have this as a cover for the real manager. Underwhelming to say the least. How is he going to be any better? Lost for words if this is true. š¤·š». Change for the sake of change.
Great we should get Gerrard, recently of the Villa parish, in then.
My biggest fear, and one that I cannot shake at this point, is that Ankerson has run the numbers and decided that we are going down regardless so this appointment is geared around coming back up.
Hopefully I am way off but at the same time, given how stats led he supposedly is, such a frank and objective move wouldnāt surprise me.
Incoming Luton Town manager. About as loyal and uninspiring as they come. Luton hardly set the championship on fire. 1/20 odds now.
We are doomed, doomed I tell ya.
Thatās a bit harsh saying Luton not on fire. Have one of the smallest capacities and smallest budgets in that league. Got to the playoffs last year and injuries cost them. Doing well this year.
I am not saying he is the answer for us. But Luton punch above their weight
Ok they are doing ok, but what has he done. He left for Stoke and was rubbish, now he is leaving again. I would say we are not aiming very high
I also remember when Luton were quite a successful first division club. Winning .
It is just a cheap option, not anywhere near as good as we had. We will see in due course. Has a whiff of the Stuart Greys about it.
Iām still hoping it is a cover for the real replacement, or Iām taking a back seat from the mens first team for a while.
See you in āa whileā then mate!
