Barry, I like your hurried slightly garbled style of delivery - it reveals passion and earnestness and, sometimes, several glasses of wine, but I usually get the gist of what you’re saying.
Why was Roger Helmer’s thoughts on gay rights brought into it? That had nothing to do with the conversation, it was (obviously) a deflection and distraction, will it be the same when Farage makes valid points this week?
Just dismiss and avoid the facts as he dislikes gays?
We were talking about EU inclusion not gay rights, I didn’t take it off track.
But is the Quran homophobic Barry?
In which case, why not simply reply as you have there? You could have questioned the relevance of the comment, but you chose to go with the “Islam’s just as bad” line instead. As I said, everything took off from there, and was exacerbated by your constant demands to know if everybody else who’s contributed to this thread considers Islam and the Qur’an to be homophobic. You may not have started the process of taking the discussion off track, but you could have brought it back perfectly easily. Instead you took it a long way further off track. So please don’t try to be the aggrieved party.
Regarding UKIP in general and Helmer in particular, I’ve already commented about the the dangers of allying oneself with people who hold vile views because you happen to agree with them on one thing. You disgaree with me on that I think, which is fair enough.
It happens a lot on Bazza’s thread, Bazza get poked and prodded for the wind up, Bazza bites and then Bazza is the panto villain, at least I get to see places like Woking and Cheltenham every December…
Seeing as it was me, I spose I should explain.
I saw a thread praising the man’s performance. Considering this man was being listened to on the subject of whether or not we should leave the EU, his judgement is something that should be considered.
Leaving the EU would be a massive decision, and one I think would be a bad move for Britain. So, I think it is important to look at the people who are telling us we should leave. The biggest and loudest group of people doing this are UKIP.
A common criticism of UKIP is that they are a bunch of racists, who give a somewhat more ‘respectable’ veneer to the Right of the Tories, a more palatable BNP. It is interesting then, that there is a constant stream of UKIP reps opening their mouths when the party big wigs aren’t around and racist shite following out.
Additionally, there is a strong undercurrent of homophobia within the party. Helmer is not the first one to have made shitty comments about gay people.
Now if, as Barry tells us, the country has turned and they all want out of EU and want to pull up the draw bridge on immigration (which is clearly unture - once again Barry presenting his opinion as a universal fact) why can UKIP - apparently the voice of a nation - not find people to front their cause without spewing hateful, ignorant and plain wrong bullshit.
Tell me, why should I trust the future of our country and it’s position within Europe to someone that compares homosexuality and to being transgender (a very common trope of bigots, I hasten to add) and say they can be ‘cured’ - implying there is something wrong with them to begin with.
That is a serious question on the mans judgement for me. So yeah, if you are coming out with shite like that I have less than no interest in anything else you have to say. Agreeing with shitty people, who clearly don’t know better just because they agree with you on one thing is a dangerous road to go down.
At least the ‘in’ campaign isn’t fronted by bumbling fools and pig corpse fuckers eh?
Well, fuck. You got me there. Is DC actually commited as being ‘in’ (oh god the innuendo)?
Edit: correcting typo - being not bieng.
Cameron is the ultimate Europhile, all middle ground parties are. It’s some if their members that are not, in fact an awful lot.
I actually think Barry’s ok.
No, really.
I agree that he could put a bit more thought into things but what is the word limit for a post? If he did it properly I’d probably just have to go for the bullet-points and I can’t keep up with what’s on here anyway.
Oh no he isn’t.
