Every time I speak to people who say they want to get fit, I always say get on a bike. It is great exercise and outdoors. Also much more fun if you get a cycle buddy.

Yep, if you want regular exercise just hang out with the village bike.

Donā€™t know if my.20k round trip counts but it feels great to be exercising again.

Here are some gratuitous shots of Winchā€¦

That doesnt help me as that was my sister

Iā€™ve joined Strava but to be honest Bob, if I was going to embellish a cycling trip Iā€™d have posted an image of me on a bike wearing a yellow t shirt somewhere on a tour of France.

I can confirm a mysterious package was delivered to chez Bletch. Bletch has ā€˜asthmaā€™ apparently. Make of that what you will.
Heā€™s also a cunt. Not that thatā€™s related in any way.

There was a can of Punk IPA in that package for which I have a therapeutic use exemption.

Gentlemen - I have a kernel of an ideaā€¦ maybe we should do a wee ride for ā€˜Charidyā€™ at some point ā€¦ as for training, the distance is not really the bastard - Apart from sore arse - TBH, its more about ā€˜paceā€™ that you do that distance. eg, you try and hold 28-30 kmh for 25km is about as knackering for me as doing 100km at 24-25kmh ā€¦ or 160km at 22 kmh

I try and get out around 6-730 am when I can and then as much as possible on a saturday

So should we get out on road?

How would that work, Gay?

The Usersā€™ Map says you live in deep fried land?

Perhaps we could all meet in the middle somewhere.

You cycle down and we cycle up?

Aim to meet in Winchester, perhaps?

If nothing but to meet @Map-Of-Tasmania in RL a charity ride needs to be done!!!

Imagine the physique and confidence of a young Mario Cipollini with the looks and intelligence of Bernard Hinault in his primeā€¦ now picture the opposite

I was actually thinking of something a little larger in scaleā€¦ would take a fair bit of planning but could be fun. Back in 2005 I ride with 4 others, 2 Saints fans and 2 Pompey cans from Middlesboroghā€™s Riverside stadium to St Maryā€™s arriving in the eve of what turned out to be the relegation match against Man Uā€¦ we raised Ā£10,000 for the Neurological unit at Southampton Gernal hospital - was around 560km in 6 days. We had sponsorship from the likes of Premier Inn for cheaper overnight stays and a support vanā€¦

All of you could do 100-130km a day with about 2-3 months of training doing say 40km a day (2hours) ā€¦ just a thoughtā€¦

At this point in the discussion I should point out that Iā€™m riding my sonā€™s old hybrid mountain bike.

Letā€™s make it 200km a day!

Joking aside, the idea appeals, just not sure what I could actually do in terms of distance per day. Plus I need to make sure I donā€™t have a reaction from my knee.

Iā€™ll go round the park three times on my Grifter
