:southampton: Our fine city and surrounds - photos

I suppose LITSL took the photo on his new Kodak Brownie, (his retirement gift from a grateful employer.)

Nope I’m the one dressed as Jane Austen standing beside Goat’s mum. My mum always wanted a daughter…I spent the first 13 years of my life wearing ribbons. Senior school was a difficult time for me. :frowning:

Think we have a thread for that topic…

Yeah I was a bit ahead of my time. Despite the beribboned appearance I identified as a boy, although somewhat controversial in the household.

1983 - If you know the New Forest you’ll know where this is…

 Yeah low tide.

Took a drive down to Brock this afternoon to see a mates new classic car. As I was early I thought I’d snuffle though the graveyard of St Nicholas Church with the dog to see if she could find the grave and headstone of my old Granny.
The dog was enthusiastic with the promise of a few bones to dig up but nope, we couldn’t find Granny.

I did take a few pics though…

Early morning walk for the dog to avoid the heat of the day. Emer Bog Nature Reserve, our usual walk…

Pinched from Facebook. Not the best quality, but a fascinating shot which I have not seen before, and which illustrates the deep water channel among other things

Haven’t you been to the Sea City Museum. I’ve steered The Titanic down Southampton Water on their simulator. If they’d let me do it in 1912 it would have saved countless lives…

I ran aground on The Brambles during the first innings of the annual Cricket game. :lou_lol:

Nope sorry. But I have been to the “Titanic Experience” in Belfast. Easily the best museum I have visited. And an eye opener about how Southampton could make so more of its heritage

I find it difficult to know how you can celebrate a flawed design that killed more than 500 Sotonians. :unamused:

The beautiful River Meon as it ambles past Droxford. Taken on my afternoon walk with the dog.

That’s not a river, that’s a stream or a piddle as they call them round these here parts…

OK, so it’s not the Itchen (universally acknowledged to be the world’s mightiest river), but a river it is nonetheless. It does get bigger before it hits Titchfield - it’s probably not too far from its source round here.

Some would say it’s the Test.

It’s like comparing the Missouri with the Mississippi

The Test flows through Wiltshire. No more need be said.

And as for mentioning those mud-filled, trout-free monstrosities when discussing the mighty Itchen - good grief. You’re dead to me.

Yes, really.

He must have quite a rod. But it’s not a trout, is it?
