Lazar Markovic is desperate to prove he is a Premier League player by helping Hull to avoid the drop.
The Serbia winger has helped pep up the Tigers after joining on loan from Liverpool.
The £20million Brendan Rodgers signing had already been farmed out to Fenerbahce and Sporting Lisbon.
But he insists his future lay in the Premier League – at Hull or back at Anfield.
“Liverpool spent money on me and I believe they should have believed more in my ability – both Liverpool and the manager,” Markovic said.
“I believed I should play more than I did. I got the chance to play more elsewhere. I have no problems with that.”
Hull know they can only make the move permanent if they stay up and would face a fight to keep him.
Markovic said: “I still have two years on my contract at Liverpool, so we shall see. But I enjoy playing in the Premier League and would like to stay in the Premier League.
“I came to England to play football and I think I have proved myself – and proved to those who thought otherwise.”
The fact that Markovic has flourished under Hull’s Portuguese boss Marco Silva should be no surprise as Liverpool bought him from Benfica.
“He influences positively on my game,” Markovic added. “I enjoy playing for this manager. There are only positives about him.”
The admiration is mutual. “He’s a big talent,” Silva said. “He’s a player that needs to work hard every day to stay on good feet and have confidence to play at his level. He’s a very good professional, a boy who likes to work. But he needs confidence.
“People might feel happy with his performances, but I want more. He has improved in the last games, but I know – and he knows as well – that it’s possible he can improve.”
Hull, two points clear of the bottom three, go to Southampton today after winning only one of their 17 away games this season.
Experienced trio Tom Huddlestone, Michael Dawson and Curtis Davies may be left out again, but Silva praised their attitude.
“Their reaction has been fantastic, but when you work with good professionals, it’s easy,” he added.
