WHAT’S AT STAKE?
Saints welcome Norwich City to St Mary’s for Wednesday night’s game (7.45pm GMT), with a place in the fourth round and a chance to host Arsenal up for grabs.
Both clubs could use the win for a confidence boost as well, with Norwich having been beaten 2-1 at the Championship’s bottom-placed club, Rotherham, in the latest dent to their promotion hopes.
Saints, meanwhile, might have the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final with Liverpool to look forward to, but their 1-0 home win over the Reds last week was followed by a fourth consecutive Premier League defeat, as they lost 1-0 at Burnley.
TEAM NEWS
Southampton: Steven Davis, who missed the trip to Turf Moor, remains sidelined with injury. Defenders Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Bertrand are also doubts, while Sofiane Boufal remains out.
Norwich City: Top scorer Nelson Oliveira is unavailable, as he begins a three-match ban. Alex Tetley is one yellow card away from a two-match suspension and may not be risked. Fellow midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu is away with DR Congo at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Jonny Howson, Graham Dorrans and Louis Thompson remain absent through injury. Robbie Brady is back from suspension, but Steven Whittaker is a doubt with a hamstring issue, while Cameron Jerome will also be assessed after picking up a knock against Rotherham last time out.
