The Foxes arrive at St Mary’s on the back of a third straight Premier League win, which came in a 3-2 success at Newcastle United.
But with Saints producing a string of strong performances themselves, Puel is wary of the quality of his former employers.
“It will be another great opponent. They stayed with a good performance against Manchester City and Arsenal. We know their quality and it will be important for us to find good play, consistency and keep a good focus about our game,” said Puel.
“It will be a strange feeling to go back to St Mary’s stadium but it will be nice to see some familiar faces of course, but the most important thing is to keep focused about my players and to make a strong game against this team.
“We are in good form, but it is the same thing for Southampton, because their performances have been at a high level so it will be a good balance between the two teams so hopefully we can see a good game.”

All positions will be available to Buy It Now (£1500) for a two-day period as of today, with five remaining positions being auction for a seven-day period between Thursday 14th-21st December. Any remaining positions will be auctioned in early 2018, with all proceeds invested into the local community through Saints Foundation’s projects.
Supporters will get the full player experience, beginning with a first-class training session to prepare for the main event on Monday 21st May 2018.
On matchday, players will be welcomed to St Mary’s through the player’s entrance, and directed to the official players’ lounge.
Players will then depart on a tour of St Mary’s Stadium, taking in sights such as the trophy cabinet and honours board, before familiarising themselves with the changing rooms, tunnel and inspecting the hallowed St Mary’s turf.
As the countdown to kick-off approaches, the players will be invited to take to the changing rooms, where they will find personalised, official Southampton FC kits waiting for them.
When the time comes, players will line up against their opposite numbers and walk out onto the same pitch that has been graced by Saints legends such as Matt Le Tissier, Kelvin Davis and Rickie Lambert.
The event will culminate with all players being invited into one of our luxury hospitality suites to round off the experience with post-match drinks and refreshments.

Claude Puel defends his Southampton record ahead of return and says ‘boring’ reputation is unfair

Claude Puel has issued a firm defence of his record at Southampton and insisted his “boring” reputation is undeserved, ahead of his return to St. Mary’s.
Puel faces his former club for the first time since his dismissal in June with Leicester hunting for their fourth successive Premier League win.
The Frenchman departed Southampton after just one season in charge, despite leading the club to an eighth-placed league finish and their first major cup final since 2003.
Yet his final months were plagued by accusations over a defensive, ponderous style of play – Southampton only scored 17 goals in 19 home games, failing to score in six of their last seven matches there.
There were also reports of friction with senior players, with Puel subsequently axed and then replaced by Mauricio Pellegrino.
