Olympia Valance receives roses from football star Fraser Forster

Show/hide article…

She announced her split from boyfriend of 15 months, Greg Cannell, in February 2016.

But from a clip shared to Olympia Valance’s Instagram Story on Monday, it appears that the former Neighbours star may have found love again.

The 25-year-old was pictured with a large bouquet of red roses, for her birthday, gifted by UK football sensation Fraser Forster, 29.

Taking to her Instagram Story on Monday, Olympia was seen holding a large bouquet of red roses, and pulling an excited expression for the camera.

Dressed casually in a slim-fitting black T-shirt and her signature brown locks framing her face, the actress captioned the moment: ‘The birthday that keeps on giving.’

Olympia continued, while tagging UK football player Fraser Forster: ‘What a surprise @fraserforster!!! I’ve literally never seen so many roses! THANK YOU!!!’

Fraser, a UK-based professional footballer, is a goalkeeper for Premier League club Southampton, and the English national team.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to both Olympia and Fraser for comment.

Olympia’s last high-profile romance was with Greg Cannell, who works as a state manager for budget fashion brand Cotton On.

After 15 months of dating, the brunette bombshell took to Instagram in February 2016, to announce their separation.

Olympia told her 27,000 followers at the time: 'Just a quick note from me - Sadly Greg & I have separated.

‘To the most incredible man ever, I wish him so much happiness and success,’ followed by a love heart emoticon.

The pair, who began dating in November 2014, often shared loved-up snaps of one another to their Instagram accounts.

Matt Le Tissier’s ‘feeder club’ dig as Coutinho leaves Liverpool for Barca

Show/hide article…

From Adam Lallana to Dejan Lovren, Liverpool have made quite a habit of signing Southampton’s best players in recent years – the most recent example the £75 million acquisition of Virgil van Dijk.

However, the shoe was on the other foot for once over the weekend when Barcelona signed Philippe Coutinho.

After seeing the £142million deal go through on Sunday, one former Saint couldn’t resist having a cheeky dig.

As well as the Coutinho sale, Liverpool also sold star striker Luis Suarez to Barca back in the summer of 2014.

Those two transfers alone probably aren’t enough to constitute “feeder club” status, but we’re sure the £207m the Reds received in combined transfer fees will probably go some way to easing the pain of separation anyway.

Chris covers the funny side of the game for ESPN FC in the Toe Poke blog.

Loan Watch: Barnes nets on Yeovil debut

Show/hide article…

Marcus Barnes made the perfect start to his loan spell at Yeovil Town as he scored the opening goal in their 2-0 victory over League One Bradford City in the Emirates FA Cup third round.

Barnes, who joined the Glovers a day before the tie, was handed a debut up front alongside Francois Zoko and repaid that faith on 61 minutes.

After being played in by Otis Khan, the 21-year-old raced through one-on-one with Lukas Raeder in the Bradford goal before showing composure to slot the ball under him.

There was also progression into the fourth round for Sam Gallagher, who scored his fourth goal in five starts during Birmingham City’s 1-0 success against fellow Championship side Burton Albion.

A scrappy contest was settled on 57 minutes when Jacques Maghoma’s surging run down the right saw him beat Jake Buxton and find Gallagher, who side-footed home inside the box.

In Scotland, it was day to forget for Harry Lewis as Dundee United were beaten 6-1 by Falkirk in the Scottish Championship.

Jaïdi previews Blackburn trip

Show/hide article…

After losing out in the league, Saints were comfortable 2-0 victors over their Blackburn counterparts in Premier League Cup competition, and will be hoping to replicate that recent performance when the sides meet for a third time tonight.

“The players have had a good rest,” Jaïdi began. "From a coaching point of view we don’t rest, because you’re constantly thinking about the season going forward and reflecting.

"The first half of the season was ups and downs, but the boys are totally aware of the areas in which they need to improve. Some things we did well, and that needs to continue, but now we know the league, we’re familiar with the teams and what we’re up against.

“The players have had fitness tests and are hopefully ready to perform. We’ve played Blackburn twice already, so we’re aware of their strengths. It is a straight forward task for us and most of all we want the three points.”

As a group we’re always looking for victories; we are one step behind the first team at 23s level so there has to be a habit of winning. Radhi Jaïdi

on the return to pl2 action

As well as asserting that his side are looking to start the new year with a standard-setting performance, the Saints coach has eyes on maximum spoils, with a view to quickly improving their current PL2 standing.

Jaïdi added: "We try to find the balance, although the individual aims vary from player to player. We’re asking some to push and realise outcomes, but others still need time to develop.

"As a group we’re always looking for victories, we are one step behind the first-team at 23s level so there has to be a habit of winning - that is important for the club.

“We know we have twelve games to go in the league and we want to win the maximum to get as close to the top league as possible.”

Southampton interested in Monaco striker Guido Carrillo

Show/hide article…

The 26-year-old Argentinian - valued at around £15m - has made 22 appearances this season but just two of them have been starts in Ligue 1.

Carrillo played under Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino during his two-year spell in charge of Estudiantes between 2013 and 2015.

Carrillio has scored 20 goals in over 50 appearances for Monaco since signing from Estudiantes in 2015, but he is yet to pick up a cap for his country.

Southampton, who are struggling in the Premier League and sit outside the relegation places on goal-difference only, are seeking a target man to play alongside Charlie Austin when he returns from injury.

The south coast club have money to spend following the £75m sale of star centre-back Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool, although the fee is to be paid in instalments over the period of his contract.

As well as a centre-forward, Southampton are also understood to be in the market for a winger with pace and a back-up right-back.

Sky Sports News reported last week that they are favourites to land Theo Walcott and bring him back to St Mary’s after more than 11 years at Arsenal.

FA Cup fourth round draw ball numbers confirmed

Show/hide article…

There will be a new name on the trophy this season after Arsenal were sensationally dumped out of the FA Cup.

Championship side Nottingham Forest dumped the holders out at the first obstacle, celebrating a 4-2 third round win over the Gunners at the City Ground.

Runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City are the bookmakers favourites to go on and win the competition now.

Pep Guardiola’s men overcame a scare in some style as they came from behind to thrash Burnley.

Rivals Manchester United, who won the cup last in 2016, are through to the fourth round too after their win over Derby.

Seven-time FA Cup winners Liverpool dumped out Merseyside rivals Everton to secure their place in the fourth round.

Tottenham, winners in 1991, will be hoping to go all the way on the road to Wembley (their temporary home, of course) after securing their place in the hat with a win over AFC WImbledon.

The draw takes place in full from 7.10pm, live on BBC Two and BT Sport, prior to this evening’s clash between Brighton and Crystal Palace. You can follow it live with Mirror Football too.

In the meantime, here are all the ball numbers and everything you need to know…

The draw will take place at 7.10pm prior to the final third-round tie between Brighton and Crystal Palace.

Fulham want Southampton’s Matt Targett on loan

Show/hide article…

Fulham are interested in signing Southampton left-back Matt Targett on loan for the rest of the season, Sky Sports News understands.

However, no deal has yet been agreed between the clubs.

Whites boss Slavisa Jokanovic wants another option at left-back as well as a centre-back and striker this month.

But he said last week that his opinion on transfers was continuing to be overlooked by the club hierarchy and suggested the club sack him if they do not value his opinion.

Targett, 22, is Saints’ third-choice left-back behind Ryan Bertrand and Sam McQueen, with the latter making several appearances while Bertrand was injured in December.

Targett has made just two appearances this season and the Saints are keen to get him out for more game-time.

It was reported earlier in the window that Southampton were interested in a deal for Fulham left-back Ryan Sessegnon but Fulham do not intend to sell him this month.

Second-choice left-back Rafa Soares, who moved to Craven Cottage on a season-long loan in the summer, has failed to make an impact.

Davis: ‘Fans booing Pellegrino doesn’t help’

Show/hide article…

Steven Davis has demanded Saints use their FA Cup victory at Fulham to revive a season undermined by supporter unrest and Virgil van Dijk’s departure for Liverpool.

Van Dijk has finally left for £75million, months after becoming unsettled during a period in which manager Mauricio Pellegrino has struggled to convince amid their slide to 17th in the Premier League.

That Pellegrino’s predecessor Claude Puel has impressed since his appointment at Leicester has increased the pressure on him, and perhaps contributed to the club’s supporters chanting for his dismissal.

Even during Saturday’s 1-0, third-round victory at Craven Cottage they sang “you don’t know what you’re doing” in response to his decision to in the 80th minute replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg with Mario Lamina.

Saturday’s represented their first win in 10, and club captain Davis recognises the importance of it leading to more if they are to arrest their decline.

“Once the window closed I thought Van Dijk got his head down and worked hard; people forgot he was out for six months prior to that as well,” the 33-year-old said. "He’s obviously got his move: now it’s important we move on. He was a good player for us, but we’ve got other players that now need to step up.

“We’re not in a good position: not happy with the first half of the season and the results. We should be doing better but we need to go and show that week in, week out on the pitch so hopefully this (victory at Fulham) is the first step in the right direction.”

Asked of the chanting aimed at Pellegrino, he responded: "It’s important that we all stick together. We’re not in a position that any of us want to be in: fans, players and staff alike.

"Stuff like that doesn’t really help. We need the fans more than ever at this point in time. Whenever you’re struggling. To be fair, they were in good voice, and came (to Craven Cottage) in good numbers.

“We were obviously gutted last year not to win the (EFL Cup) final, having put in a good performance against Manchester United, but if we can have a little cup run alongside picking up our league form it’d be a boost for everybody.”
