Construction workers have drilled through the final wall of rock to join the two halves of the Channel Tunnel and link Britain to France.
The momentous breakthrough links the UK to Europe for the first time since the Ice Age, about 8,000 years ago.

A Minute silence in memory of Saintsā president Ted Bates was wrecked by skates fans. Southampton had stupidly gambled, but it backfired. It was cut short by Poll the referee, but perfectly observed 5 days later at home to Charlton.
Saints beat the skates 2-0 to reach the quarter finals on the league cup with goals from Beattie in the 32 minute and again from the penalty spot in the last minute. It was 90 minutes to late, but the skates were silent!!
We lost to Bolton in the quarter final after extra time 1-0!!!

That was my screensaver for about 6 months after the gameā¦ Beattie making the point of the silents.

1984: Hundreds die in Bhopal chemical accident
Hundreds of people have died from the effects of toxic gases which leaked from a chemical factory near the central Indian city of Bhopal.
The accident happened in the early hours of this morning at the American-owned Union Carbide Pesticide Plant three miles (4.8 km) from Bhopal.
Mr Y P Gokhale, managing director of Union Carbide in India, said that methyl isocyanate gas (MIC) had escaped when a valve in the plantās underground storage tank broke under pressure.

Saints were left mourning the passing of Austin Hayes who died from cancer at the age of just 28. A member of the 1979 league cup final team, the London born striker scored 9 goals in 41 league and cup games, before moving to Millwall for Ā£50,000 in February 1981.

Forum sweetheart and all round lovely person @LouLouMySweet was bought lovingly and tenderly into this world.
Encouraged by her congenital loveliness she sought to broker love and peace between opposing factions on TSW. However this was cut short due to her brother by another mother being forcefully ejected from said medium.
When her sibling from another mother started his own medium she qucickly joined and used this oppurtunity of virgin ground to engender an atmosphere were all are included and loved, except for that mysogynist, self loving tosser Tokes, he can fuck right off as far as she is concerned!
@LouLouMySweet recently became disenfranchised with her lot in life and is hoping to take her unique skills to that right wing hotbed that is America. It will not know what has hit it.

My New Years resolution is going to be to try and make friends with Tokes. Even if he doesnāt want to be my friend - Iāll make him! Heās gonna like me so much! Heāll never say he doesnāt want me posting on one of his threads again!
