Because we have no choice, look at the VvD situation, look at Fonte last year, is it really worth keeping hold of an out of contract player that wants to go on “to better things”!

We’ve tried before keeping hold of players and I think the only one that worked out was Morgan and he went swiftly backwards when Man United ruined him.

Also, money that has been obtained from the TV deals was swiftly absorbed by players’ wages, new players and improved contracts. One woudl suggest we but “inferior” quality players with potential as replacement because :-

a) their wages are lower
b) if they don’t work out we don’t really lose anything on them

If we bought a, lets say, Hazard quality player as a replacement would we then have to improve the wages of the other players in the squad?

It’s all a fine balancing act really.

If they are not under contract you cannot sell them Dumbass
