☎ New Phone For Lady LITSL This Christmas

When asked what she wants for Christmas Lady Slowlane says, “A new phone”
At the moment she has a basic Sony Xperia L1 and wants something a bit more compact but decent value for money…a Samsung of some description?
Needs to be able to easily transfer data from her Xperia to the new phone without taking a course in computer sciences.

Recommendations please. Bear in mind I don’t own a Smart Phone so don’t come all geeky at me.

Really good value for money Chinese phones out there. Xiaomi’s available for about £120 that have loads of features.

If I can find the charger, I do have one of these I could part with for a few quid… design museum classic!

Had a Samsung, wouldn’t touch another one

I’d stick with Sony or do as @Fatso said and go Chinese.
For transferring and compatibility the Sony will be simple and easy to use, but the Chinese can’t be beat on spec and price.

On my 2nd A7 Samsung had a Note 4 & Note 5 before - like the larger size for typing!
Wouldn’t have anything else. When my old ones’ screen died (I sat on it while packing boxes) new one booted up - I typed my google ID & ittransferred all the old data & pics across from the old phone even though i couldn’t see anything.
There are better around but the ecosystem is great and phones come & go. Your data is for everyone esp Google

Had nothing but problems with mine from day 1 as did my friend who also had a samsung

I have a Samsung S10 Plus its beautiful easy to use easy to set up. big screen for bigger numbers for a blind bugger like me. Never had an issue with it.

I’ve had about 4 Samsung’s in a row and no issues at all. I may move to something else later as hear cameras on others are getting really good.

Hi @lifeintheslowlane, it all depends on what Mrs LITSL wants to do with her new phone.

If she only wants to surf the web and interact with her social media crowd than a Chinese phone such as a low end Huawei or a Xiaomi will do.

However if she wants to take decent photos then she will need to go for a higher end Huawei (the P30) or a Samsung or (shudder) iPhone.

I recently acquired a Samasung Galaxy s10e, it is compact and a good little phone but maybe a bit much to be purchased outright.

My son has a Samsung Galaxy A20e and it is a nice little phone and does what he needs, takes good photos too.

Are you going for contract or outright purchase and SIM only?

Thanks for all the advice from everyone.

The Samsung A20e looks to be the range, in which she’s interested. She’s interested in an outright purchase @BTripz

Probably get it cheaper on eBay but it’s an idea

Before buying a China-built Android phone, make sure you know what access the manufacturer will have to Google’s apps.

Trump, as part of his ongoing “great and easy to win” trade war with China has banned the sale of some technologies. Huawei in particular are developing their own apps and operating system.

Tbh the camera on my 2019 A7 has taken more oh wow pics than I’ve taken before. Not a fan of the wide angle settings have to override them but it gets pictures i could take before.
Colour saturation on it is really good, rarely edit anyway all these days.
When I break it may not afford a new one so will probably have to change then

So here we sit, waiting expectantly for the delivery of a lifeintheslowlane changing event.
Lady Slowlane seems quite excited, Sir Basil is not so sure for it heralds the departure of his much cherished Samsung Slider Phone.

Yes whilst I was walking the dog yesterday afternoon Ladyslowlane phoned Virgin Media in Mumbai and availed herself of a new Samsung A41 smart thingy. During the conversation Ladyslowlane let slip that Sir Basil is still nursing an unhealthy crush on an ancient Slider Phone and that she thinks the relationship needs to end.

Unfortunately Bob (Raanjit) got the wrong end of the stick and thought Ladyslowlane was referring to the old phone rather than the old phoney and signed up for a two for one offer.

So now Ladyslowlane is tracking the arrival of the two Samsung A41s via a Yodel delivery. Only 73 more drop-offs before it arrives she gleefully declares, the van is in the Halterworth Estate in Romsey.

My only hope now is on the reputation of Yodel for chucking the package behind the neighbour’s rubbish bins.

Wish me luck. :frowning:

Amazon have just won the award this week

The Ayatollah ordered a glass demijohn for her sloe gin production. The muppets put it in a plastic wrap that you would normally expect clothes to be sent in

Needless to say our email back suggest better packaging or to include free super glue

Well after all this hope that Yodel wouldn’t deliver the bloody smart phones turned up. We’ve now spent a whole day and a half trying to get the fuckers to work properly.

I’ve got my Hotmail account set upon Outlook but it wants nothing to do with my NTL email account…I never wanted a smart phone anyway.

Ladyslowlane has laid plans to bomb the Samsung factory as none of her contacts transferred from her old phone and her NTL email account won’t load.

It’s a good job this new tech is so intuitive.

CUNTS.
