Pretty much the entire system these days is based on those who have money exploiting those that do not. If someone can easily pay their bills, buy a house or do any of the other things you need to do in life without a bank or credit facility, that wouldn’t be good for the banking or credit business.
You’d be on safer ground with union representation
Money is always a difficult thing to broach. I begin my spiel with shit about most contracts being a two way street, that we both benefit from our co-operation and oh yeah, can I have some more fucking money please?
Two mayoral candidates have been announced today. Liverpool’s Metro Mayor will be announced tomorrow, but today it was the turn of Greater Manchester and the West Midlands.
Andy Burnham will contest the metro mayor for Manchester, while Sion Simon, an MEP, has been nominated for West Midlands.
Like Liverpool, these areas are both Labour strongholds. The selected Labour candidate in each is the presumed victor. Burnham will most likely vacate Leigh, creating a by-election there. Steven Bush reckons Paul Mason, born in the town and formerly of Channel 4, may contest the seat. Dunno how I feel about that, if I’m honest. He’s a really decent communicator, but if he ends up replacing someone that’s put the hours in, well, it’s the sort of thing that can create resentment.
Tomorrow, Labour will announce the candidate for the Liverpool metro region. There isn’t anyone you could call solidly Corbyn. Steve Rotheram, my preferred candidate and the MP for Walton, is really Burnham’s man. They could well be competitors, if they take the local rivalry seriously. Joe Anderson is presently mayor of Liverpool, the city. He’s seeking more responsibility. Finally, we’ve got Luciana Berger, my former MP, who would be my third choice. She’d be a big part of the wing of the party agitating right now, and she was selected amongst controversy. At one stage, Ricky Tomlinson was going to stand against her. He’d have won if he’d done so.
Either Berger or Rotheram getting the nomination means we get another Parliamentary by-election when they inevitably win.

Corbyn vs Smith: 209 CLPs declared: Corbyn: 152, Smith: 25, Neutral: 32 #LabourLeadership
Owen Smith. Still 3rd in a two horse race. Neutral is increasing its lead as well.
Steve Rotheram MP@Steve4LCRmayor
Incredibly humbled to be selected as Labour’s candidate for Metro Mayor. Thank you to everybody who supported me.
I know, I know.
I keep on getting what I want, politically.
I’m scared too.
That looks like the welcome page on a funeral directors’ website.
Death of the Labour Party
It does rather. I guess they’ve used a pic from Remembrance Sunday to show that he has a suit and tie (and isn’t afraid to wear it), and a poppy to boot. They’ll probably release a recording of him belting out the national anthem for good measure.
Why would they need to?
The dude has been a tireless campaigner for the Hillsborough families, was there on the day.
Liverpool knows who he is. The hard part is over. Can’t see any other candidate taking the city.
I always liked the name of the undertakers in Holbury
R Hall um
I’ve seen him talk, he’s very impressive and has done some great work.
So why does he put out a photo like that?
Him and Jezza need to address vulgar things like their images.
I’m not saying go all Tony Blair but at least try to give a good impression - it helps with voters who care more about shiny stuff than policy.
I wasn’t being serious.

Neither, as far as I can ever tell, is Barry.
I reserve the right to make political points based on non-serious content
Have you just dropped the bombshell that Barry is in fact a comedy creation and doesn’t mean anything he posts?
As far as i’m aware Steve Rotheram is a staunch Evertonian Pap, would he have been at Hillsborough supporting Liverpool? Find that difficult to believe.
Who says you have to believe anything I say?
In 2015 he was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to Leader of the Opposition, Jeremy Corbyn MP.
Beyond politics, Steve is an enthusiastic football fan and plays for the All-Party Parliamentary football team. He is a die-hard Liverpool FC fan having held a season ticket for many years.
He is also the only Member of Parliament to have two Premier League football clubs in his constituency (Everton FC and Liverpool FC).
Rotheram has long played a key role in campaigning for the release of all government papers relating to the Hillsborough disaster. In a speech whilst Lord Mayor of Liverpool on the twentieth anniversary of the disaster, he said, "I’m one of the fortunate ones, as I swapped my Leppings Lane ticket for a stand seat 15 minutes before kick-off…if I can go from being a brickie in Kirkby to the Lord Mayor, who knows what these ninety-six people may have achieved in their lives."[9] In October 2011, he gave an emotional speech to the House of Commons where he read out the names of all ninety-six victims so that they would be recorded in Hansard, and called for the release of all government papers relating to the disaster. The speech later won an award as the Parliamentary Speech of the Year.[4] After papers subsequently released in September 2012 showed widespread corruption from South Yorkshire Police, Rotheram called upon Prime MinisterDavid Cameron to issue an apology on behalf of the government, which he later did
Check, man, check!
Tom Watson needs to shut the fuck up.
Probably irons his jeans too (apologies to Pap’s Mum)
GMB have come out for Smith
Piers Morgan is a fktard. I wouldn’t want him supporting me, or the rest of the GMB crew. Awful show.
