:labour: New Old Labour in trouble

https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/labours-nec-approves-full-international-anti-semitism-definition_uk_5b8eadade4b0511db3dc9d02

This I just don’t understand - JC still wanted to put a massive caveat in with adopting the guidelines in full. It doesn’t take a genius to guess that had they accepted his proposal, the shit storm would have got worse, but he is so ideologically stubborn he cannot let it go. Mad.

FWIW they have probably done enough to put this to bed - however what happens if the PLP accept the guidelines but vote to exclude the statement?

EDIT: Some interesting snippets from this vid:-

  • Galloway and Topple predict the adoption of the IHRA (it was recorded yesterday)
  • Both reckon that Corbyn hasn’t emerged unscathed, but hasn’t been damaged in the eyes of the public.
  • Both reckon that Corbyn has handled it poorly. If he was going to capitulate now, why not in May?
  • Neither are too supportive of McDonnell’s role in the affair.
  • However, this leaves much less room for the Labour right to attack
  • MI5 summoned Corbyn in for a chat on the facts of life, something they do with any likely Prime Minister. Don’t think he went.

Seeing as we’ve made such a fuck up of voting for the last 40 years, maybe it’s time to let the youngsters decide their own future.

Now that the Anti-Semitism smears are finally on their last legs, this is going to be the next line of attack.
Todays cartoon in The Times.

Wtf?

This is a very well argued piece, sums up what’s going on precisely.

Decent article. This paragraph sums it up.

“In reality, they’re the echo chamber. A tiny network of obscenely privileged and powerful media-political types bunkered within 50 square miles of each other, calling the rest of us mad, bad and delusional. Just think about the privilege it takes to hold that view.”

Why does privilege make some people so delusional about very real and obvious facts?

I saw this on the BBC and thought you should see it:

Enfield North passes a vote of no confidence in LFI chair Joan Ryan, erstwhile of that Al Jazeera documentary in which she falsely accused an activist of antisemitism.

He’s only three years behind the times, bless him.

She says she will ignore the vote of no confidence. " I am Labour through and through and the only ones who have no confidence in me are Trots, Stalinists, Communists and assorted hard left. I have no confidence in them". Such arrogance and sense of entitlement, she thinks being an MP is a job for life.

Heh. Or alternatively, a majority of her CLP. She’s a disgrace as an MP, a disgrace as a Labour member and the personification of a politician that’s working for a foreign state first, this one last.

I’ve never hear of her and she’s the MP for just up the road.

Hardly a ringing vote of confidence Intiniki. So which one are you, Trot, Stalinist, Communist? I think we should be told!

Hmmm. Ummmm. Socialist? The union branch I used to belong to was allegedly run by a trot. Well that’s what the right of the union would say.

Tell chukka what’s his face to fuck right off:

Are you still a fan of Blairite Luciana Berger? I can remember telling you about her and her NU Labour ways, still a fan?
