Maynority government

social media - the facilitator of sweeping generalisations

The elephant in the room here, which i find astonishing that the media are not even touching on, is where does this leave our so called democracy. Here we have the ruling Conservative Party calling an election, putting forward a manifesto laying out what they will do if re-elected, and then tearing it up once they have won. What sort of precedent is this? For better or worse hundreds of thousands of people would have given her their vote because they liked these policies and wanted to see them implemented. The Tory Party surely gained these votes under false pretences. What is the point in political parties having a manifesto, giving the electorate a choice, if a week after the election they just shrug their shoulders, rip it up and produce a new one that hasn’t been put before the electorate? It shows absolute contempt for the people of this country, it wouldn’t look out of place in a dictatorship and brings shame on this country. The Conservatives should call another election to put their new manifesto to the people, if they don’t it will just confirm what some of us already know, Theresa May, and the shabby party she purports to lead are the absolute antithesis of democracy. They are not fit to run a whelk stall. And to think these charlatans are entrusted to negotiate the future of this country in Europe, probably the most important negotiations in the history of this country in modern times. They will be a laughing stock and will be taken to the cleaners. This shower would have a problem negotiating their way to the toilet in the dark.

It started last year with Brexit, was continued by Trump in the US, and has carried through for his election. If you’re calling for a new election due to this then we must have a new Brexit referendum. The Brexiteers told us no last year, so I would say that anything goes now.

Maybe there needs to be rules on how much of a manifesto has to be implemented, going forward.

Forget the lies (from both sides) but what manifesto was there for Brexit? As @pap likes to say it was a binary choice in or out.

The leading campaigners for out never had the political power to say what we would ask for if we left that was always going to be down to whomever was in power when Article Whatever it was was invoked!!

The ones I feel sorry for are the people who love fox hunting and hate old people - they’ve been properly shafted.

He absolutely owned them. They won’t have enjoyed that. Some very clever piss taking, i particularly enjoyed his mockery of Damian Green, Corbyn demolished him which is richly deserved.

Jesus christ, they just can’t help themselves can they?

LOL, “Stick it where a monkey sticks his nuts”

Anyway, a disgrace that will go unpunished and will be swept under the carpet.

It’ll be interesting to see the final accounts for that campaign!

Even if they dress it up so that just the Neath candidate went 3000% over budget, surely they must have committed the same offences as the last election.

So the deal has been done

May is in bed with the DUP

Arlene Foster in charge of the DUP but not elected to the British Parliament and May has already given them an extra 1 billion as a sweetener.

So, it transpires the magic money tree does exist when it comes to any attempt to cling onto power!

May strikes 1 billion pound deal to get DUP support for her government

Surely this bung ofa billion quid should come out of Conservative party private coffers. It is certainly not in the public interest to pay a bribe to the political wing of loyalist terrorists, putting the Good Friday Agreement at risk with all the implications that will have, both for the people of NI and here in Britain. This bung is solely to allow May and the Conservatives to cling on to power, it is a private matter between them and the DUP. An absolute disgrace.

Great news that the ‘magic money tree’ has been located though, i feared it had disappeared forever when it went missing after bailing out the bankers in 2008.
