Fucking hell Donald - stop trying to appease - you are shit at it.
Not this one.
What he wanted to say was - It takes 2 to cause trouble - which is actually true.
Tell that to the victims of the Manchester bombing.
Unfortunately for him, one side was “Right Wing” and one side was “Left Wing” so of course he gets battered because he didn’t blame the “Right Wing” people - media simply burn any NON NAZI HATERS at the Stake. In fact they burn anyone who does NOT say I HATE NAZIs.
So basically he fell into a perfectly executed trap. Nothing he said would have been the right thing because then he’d be a Nazi.
Simples
One side were white supremacist racists and one side wasn’t. Calling it left against right is exactly what the racists want. . Do you think there wasn’t Republican voters on both sides?
Nicola Sturgeon seems to have it about right. “When the likes of David Duke praise you, you are on the wrong side. There are no ‘fine’ Nazis.
If someone kicks a ball around and wears a replica football shirt does that make them a top level professional footballer? These people aren’t Nazis even if that’s what they fantasize about. Throwing this label around is unhelpful and reductive, reducing people to emotional response rather than properly considered response.
It also plays into a contrived media narrative that has been built against Trump, by people such as Clintons allies. Who do not forget, are murderous cunts as well, who’ve caused far more suffering than trump (so far) and these racists.
I would like Trump gone, but replacement with another Clinton or Obama is not an acceptable solution.
I’m sort of with you in that it does feel odd to criticise Trump for NOT being sufficiently prejudice & bigotry & stereotype against a group of people. Even if some/most/all of them happen to be racist dipshits.
Of course! Two sides, two sides!
It’s definitely not fair to call people who dress like Nazis, throw Nazi salutes, repeat Nazi slogans, chant Nazi songs, espouse ethnic cleansing, and carry out terrorist attacks as Nazis.
Definitely Hillary’s fault that Trump absolutely cannot bring himself to denounce them, and in fact encourages them.
When Trump stops wooing these people, sharing views with them, acting like a tinpot dictator and fawning over other dictators, we’ll stop criticising him as such.
Nah, this is bollocks.
If he just came out, immediately, and denounced these folk, it would have been fine.
It’s not as if Trump is reticent in attacking people in uncertain terms, is it?
Have they mass executed jews, homosexuals etc. in gas chambers, assembled vast arsenals of weapons and men and invaded foreign countries to murder and subjugate their citizens?
No? then not really Nazi’s I reckon.
Clinton and Obama on the other hand swapping jews and homosexuals for muslims, probably fit the bill.
Literal militia’s
Did the Nazis do this, I can’t remember?
Not to mention that of the 85 terrorist attacks in the US since 9/11 - 62 have been perpetrated by right-wing extremists. So yeah, they are killing people - before they had a leader in the White House - backed by majorities in both houses and the supreme court.
Clinton and Obama on the other hand swapping jews and homosexuals for muslims, probably fit the bill.
Excellent whataboutism. Is anyone on this thread claiming Obama/Clinton are paragons of virtue?
Precisely what does that have to do with a bouyant movement of increasingly emboldened Nazis, clearly feeling vindicated by Trump and his rhetoric have to do with Clinton/Obama?
I’m all for criticising them - but using it to minimize Trump and this dangerous movement is utter bollocks.
Was Hitler not a Nazi until he murdered millions?
Give these people the power and watch what they will be eager to do.
In your first post, change the scenario to a kid watching fundamentalist videos because he’s constantly told he comes from murdering scum and doesn’t belong here, or a young white male, in a shit northern town with no future, watching neo nazi shit, instead of kicking a ball around. See where you could end up.
That said, your point about calling them all Nazis is valid. How about dumb, racist, white supremacist, fuck wits?
Nah, call them what they are.
There is a reason they have tried to brand themselves as Alt-Right, they know the Nazi label is toxic.
It’s also why they are so desperate to make the Alt-Left stick. So they can play this two-sides narrative.
There is no such thing as the Alt-Left, the people it used to refer to are either Anti-Nazis or advocates of Universal Healthcare.
Attempts to equate the two are bullshit.
KRG I in no way want to defend Trump but there is an extremely thought provoking article on BBC Web site today about Steve Bannon but can’t link it on my fone
Who imho is the real problem in the white house.
It begs the question seeing the change in tone of trumps position how much he was behind the pressure to change position.
Bannon does have previous and not sure why he is not getting more grief from the media.
Oh of course he is a media guy…
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/aug/15/charlottesville-militia-free-speech-violence
The militia are not part of the far right goons.
Steve Bannon?(i feel i’m in the wrong thread).
Another mental racist(if he could tell one race from the other) fuckwit.
Nah, the people with confederate flags and MAGA badges stitched onto their uniform at a Nazi rally protesting the removal of a confederate statue definitely aren’t right wing.
I’ve not claimed you support or like Trump.
But im gonna call bullshit when you try claiming both side bullshit equivalences.
It’s like saying WWII couldn’t happen without 2 sides. It’s probably true. And yeah, Britain and the allies undoubtedly had bad actors and did bad shit.
Guess what? The Nazis were still fucking evil.
RE: Bannon, I agree he’s a bad influence, and I’ve been saying as such for a while. But there’s a reason Trump puts so much trust in him. They are aligned on these issues. Trump chose to appoint, and continues to keep him around.
Trump and his family have a storied history of bigotry long before Bannon was around.
It’s no coincidence.
Fuck me. Really?
I expected quite a lot more from you SWDP. Are you seriously saying that only people who have gassed Jews can be called nazis?
Hey guys, I’m really cool and I’ll defend the indefensible
If Hitler had not facilitated the killing of millions of people, would the term Nazi still invoke the same emotional response that it does. I think not.
The word therefore has power and should be used responsibly by politicians and the media. The power of the word is currently being used to push an agenda. The people with the agenda are loathesome people with a genuine pedigree in war mongering and death. Ironically something that Trump does not have pedigree in and something, he personally is relatively new to.
Fuck me. Really?
I expected quite a lot more from you SWDP. Are you seriously saying that only people who have gassed Jews can be called nazis?
Well yes, Nazis have their own set of circumstances and their own place in time so in a way what you say I’m saying is correct. However, I also wouldn’t necessarily see a problem in applying the term by way of comparison to another group of people who had committed a henious crime. I guess It doesn’t have to be gassing and it doesn’t have to be jews, but I would say the crime would need to be of a similar nature and magnitude for the comparison to be a reasonable one. Nothing Trump or Bannon or the people in Charlottesville have done (so far) comes close to the horror inflicted by the Nazis.
