What’s happening at fb? Powerful people seem to be turning against a tool best described like this.

"Imagine a government employee called you, out of the blue, and asked you for the following information:

Your name, age, address and contact information.
Your employment status, job and education history.
The names and addresses of your friends and family.
Your relationship status, plus the names and addresses of your former partners.
All the places you’ve been on vacation. Plus copies of photos you took whilst you were there.
What movies you like, what book you’re reading, what you had for dinner last night.
Oh, and where you are, and what you’re doing, right now.
When you ask him why they need this information, he tells you they’re planning on putting it on an internet database which the whole world can access."

Why would the people that profit from that voluntary(not really) abuse of privacy want to destroy it and are some at fb reminding them just how much they know at any given time?
I hope there’s a fucking big scrap. Will reveal loads of underhand shit to the rest of us.

How is what he tweeted anti-semitic? Fair comment after watching Israeli flags being waved by Tottenham supporters.

Fuck knows. You’d need to ask the Israeli government for today’s definition. And check again tomorrow.

Yeah, but the gobby cunt didn’t need to introduce politics into sport though. What the fuck has Spurs got to do with Israeli domestic policy? They have a few a few Jewish supporters and he’s using worn out old trope that do draw conclusions that don’t exist and by extension, that Spurs in some way advocate Israeli Government Policy?

Please. Which continent is Israel on?

And now, for your follow up question, which continent does it play its international games in?

Think it might be a wee bit late to start moaning about politics in sport.

Whichever one it chooses, whenever it chooses.

See above.

You’re quite clearly anti-Semitic and will be demonised and made unemployable shortly.

Sincerely
Shai Masot

How about the Tottenham supporters in Madrid waving Israeli flags? That does tend to imply support of the Israeli regime.

What the fuck has that got to do with the price of apples? Galloway used a football club with no political affiliation to Israel to draw and infer inappropriate and unsupported accusations. He’s rightly been sacked. He should have known better, but he’s a gobby cunt and got what he deserved. End of.

The biggest criticism that is that being bunged at Galloway is that he is conflating Spurs’ Jewish support with implicit support for Israel’s policies.

Is he?

I’m not really seeing the evidence for that from the tweet. He certainly didn’t say that explicitly. What’s happened is that a bunch of people in between have decided that’s what he meant.

I can’t see how that leap is justified. To explain why, let’s entertain the hypothetical scenario where Spurs did win the CL, and somehow or other, the CL trophy is photographed with an Israel flag on it. We’ll work our way backward.

Would it automatically follow that this was the work of the entirety of Tottenham’s Jewish support, all working together in furtherance of getting the Israel flag on it?

Of course bloody not, and that’s what makes these accusations all the more ridiculous. If it occurred, it would have occurred because one or two lads, big into their Spurs, perhaps big into their Israel, or perhaps just doing it for football piss-takery reasons, got brave and/or drunk enough to plonk a flag on the trophy and get a photo.

His accusers basically have to take the mindset of the things they’re accusing him of just to make the accusation.

His accusers also have to ignore the fact that pretty much every week on his show, Galloway went airtime lengths to distinguish Jews in the abstract from the political zionism project, pointing out that most zionists are not Jewish, and conversely, that there are many Jews across the UK and the world opposing political zionism.

I just don’t understand how you get from that tweet, articulating something parts of the fanbase would celebrate themselves, to George Galloway is a gigantic anti-Semite.

The same way you get to Chris Williamson is an anti semite. Or Jackie Walker. Or Jeremy Corbyn. Mentalist hysteria.

The problem is that the mud does stick. I had a quite pointed discussion with Young Adulr #1 about the Livingstone affair.

She mentioned him in a small kitchen debate about JC’s handling of various scandals. It became quickly apparent that she thought him a real toothbrush moustache candidate.

Ken Livingstone was idiotic to poke that hornet’s nest from the perspective of wanting a quiet life. He wasn’t wrong. His words were just twisted very quickly, and he also got quickly visited by an irate John Mann who presumably thinks bellowing at a 70 year old in front of the news cameras is acceptable political discourse.

Livingstone’s real crime was remembering a time when you could say true things and thinking he could get away with it in the 21st century.

I don’t agree. That’s what he did say - that any Spurs win would be celebrated by Jewish Spurs fans as a win for Israel and not for Spurs. He can’t know this and therefore there was no justification for the last line of his tweet. He should know better. He’s not dumb, he knows the IHRA’s definition of antisemitism covers accusations of Jewish people being more loyal to Israel than their own nation. There have been Jews and Spurs fans in London much longer than the Israeli State has existed. He’s got history for crossing the line and he’s done exactly that again. He’s only got himself to blame.

How is that racist?

Going to give this a more fulsome response. On my first post about this, I spoke about the leaps one needs to make to get from Galloway’s offending tweet and what people have decided he meant.

Do you not reckon you’ve just done exactly the same?

Galloway didn’t say the things you’re accusing him of.

You did, just to be able to make the accusation.
