šŸŒ Is the planet Earth doomed?

There are a number of vey large projects involved in repairing the dame mankind has done.
I recommend watching a chap called John Lui, who although basically a photographer, is an expert on repairing the ecology.
Severe damage can be reversed by letting nature back in. The time scales are incredibly short - a noticeable difference being seen in 2-3 years.
There is hope - look at the programmes recommended, and prepare to be very surprised - countries involved China, Sudan, Jordan, and all countries across Africa bordering the Sahara.
Look up about Africa’s Green Wall - a thousands years ahead of Trumps wall!

Just in case you need it, the names of the videos on YouTube are ā€œThe incredible story of the Less Plateauā€ and ā€œAfrica’s big green wallā€. The Banks Peninsular s also worth watching (New Zealand).
These are not isolated instances of planetary repair, there are dozens all over the world, and not just in third world locations.

Bloody predictive text, it is just f course the Loess Plateau!

As puns go this is pretty bad. Any other suggestions?

And dont I fvcking know it.
3 months of inflamed sinus that hammers my facial nerve with mega migraine style pain every 2.5 hours, every night.
Not the only one with the problem in the village either

Hmmm.

Probably not the right thread but here goes…

I seem to recall the media banging on about the UK being energy self-sufficient for a period over the summer (wind and solar) but then saw this:

Which seems to imply our generating capacity and security of supply ain’t that great.

And then also saw this:

Proof that wind and solar aren’t going to solve all our energy requirements all of the time?

As coal and oil are dirty words perhaps nuclear power is finally the way forward?

And an example of the consequences?

Whibble.

Diana was right.
Doomed I tell you.

Excellent article - thanks for posting it. I even managed to understand a fair bit. My worry is that, even should this technology live up to its promise, we humans will still devise some new way of fucking up the planet that we live and depend on. There are times when I think that Agent Smith got it pretty much spot on:

The climate arseholes have closed tower bridge by abseiling over the side - which is going to knacker my plans this afternoon

I might volunteer to assist their removal - a pair of garden shears ought to do it

What were your plans?

Not entirely sure (Ayatollah has kept me in the dark) but it did involve crossing that bridge

Ah, probably going over the gallery at the top - has a nice glass floor.

They are done

She’s going to have you straddling the centre whilst the bridge lifts, see how long you can stay on it…

If she happened to ask whether your life insurance is up to date, I’d advise watching your step very carefully.
