šŸŒ Is the planet Earth doomed?

Don’t know. You’ve already got me to click on my first guardian article in months and i don’t have any inclination to look at more shit.
If he promotes Monsanto(in whatever underhand way) he’s a fraud and he has done this.

Who?

Don’t be like the guardian and talk in whispers.
Who says the information in the film is fraudulent?

Moore is the executive producer. He had no part in the making of the film.

This is what reading the guardian does. Talk about anything but the important point.

P&C it.
I’ll give him as many clicks as the guardian.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never held much track with your views on the environment and you calling George monbiot ā€œa cuntā€ based on some spurious claim that he’s pro Monsanto has made me even more convinced that we’re so far apart when it comes to matters of the environment that this discussion is pointless.

@Fatso have you watched the film and thought about it, then made up your own mind(still available for a short time)?

Fair enough.
You didn’t like it the other year either, but i did put up lots of evidence then.
I won’t repeat it now and you can go on believing whatever the guardian tells you too.
Have you watched the film and used your own powers of deduction?

I’ve read plenty of articles by George Monbiot. If he’s ever promoted Monsanto then I’ve failed quite spectacularly to notice.

First thing. I’m now extremely pissed(second bottle is always a bad idea, but a bit late to be bringing that upšŸ™„).

Depends how you view promoted. There are different levels of subtlety. George is mid range at best.

He’s called for environmentalists* to work with the devil for ā€œSustainabilityā€ which is a complete oxymoron if you look into the reality of that ā€œpartnershipā€.

Don’t get me wrong, i had high hopes for George, but he proved being comfortable was more important than the truth.
He’s a mouthpiece for big agriculture and has proved so many times(he’d not get a voice in the guardian otherwise, just ask Nafeez Ahmed/Jonathan Cook).

I’ll still trust you when say ā€œthoughtful pieceā€ about a guardian article and read it, but that’s more about you than the guardian(I feel it’ll be a Monbiot piece :joy:).

As an experiment, put your skills with language to the other extreme(yes, i believe your all living in a wholly propagindised way of seeing reality) and tell me why every sentence is framed as it is?
Rationalise it from the other side and tell me where it leads?
Same old same old i’d guess and that’s George’s job in a nut shell.
A promoter of billionaires.

Without going into the gaurdian, has Monbiot ever backed up or retracted his idiotic rebuttal on Morningstar’s ā€œManufacturing Consentā€ articles?
The author referred him to the points he made and their inaccuracies and his answer was silence.
He was very protectionist about big business and when challenged as a fraud he seemed to disappear(yet again).
So who is George and what’s his real agenda(apart from making money)?

Does the man have a spine?

*\ anyone want to tell me the environmentalists that are against the film? @Fatso and the guardian didn’t.
It better not be same lot funded by… Guess who?

Judging by how easy it has been for companies to dispose of UK waste abroad because it’s cheaper I don’t hold out much hope for the global environment- hopefully other countries returning our waste shit will make the Govt come down hard on the profit grabbing bastards. Not holding my breath tbh

At the risk of @saintbletch making an appearance and giving it the big one

Read through this - actually rather brilliant (and quite ingenious) how they have looked at recycling.

I like the stat re deaths per KW produced

What they fail to mention is when a coal fired power station blows up, you can expect to live in that county at some point in the following 100 years

If anyone needed a bit of cheering up

How this prohibition treaty is going to be enforced is beyond me, anyone got any ideas?

Yes you ask politely and everyone will concur. :lou_lol:

The yanks will keep a stockpile just in case.

It’s ok, I’m sure we can trust them. :unamused:

Listening to Tory Lord McDonald trying to justify more nukes and being greener going forward on R4 - laughably inept about describing our new place in the world - and that’s not just me being anti-Brexit. The Government plans don’t appear very well thought through.

I’m guessing that since they’ve been in power they may have had other priorities. Nothing springs immediately to mind, it’s been a quiet year, but could they perhaps have been distracted by anything? Even some triviality or other that might not even have made the news?

Could well be the case that something cropped up, but no excuse for cock-eyed thinking :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
