Has Tangoman retweeted this yet? :lou_lol:

The tanker sabotage clearly didn’t work

Is this the next one? (Barry - comment sensibly or not at all please).

Well, this statement has come from the Iranian government and no-one else. The clue to that is in the first sentence of the article.

Is this the nuclear deal that the USA has already withdrawn from?

Indeed it is. Trump said the Obama deal was such a bad deal he withdrew from it…making it even worse.

“Worst deal in history”, Trump says, with all the ignorance of someone that never bought a season ticket in the Puel/Pellegrino/Hughes eras.

The very quick way for Iran to be bombed is for them to block the Strait, and they’ll be bombed by all and sundry.

Fuck sake, this is worse than Blair. Instead of cooking up a dodgy dossier, we’re just going to provoke the Iranians into ever tougher diplomatic standpoints, all on the orders of the big orange blob.

You’ve got to ask would they really be stupid enough to do something in the Straits? Many countries rely on safe passage there and there in no diversion route without costing millions, they should really just build new pipelines and take the issue out the equation, you’d have thought both want this…

This is the one occasion where Status Quo is better than Dire Straits.

Fuck I pity you son, Dire Straits are so middle of the road they make Def Leppard seem edgy…

Returning swiftly to topic, could the Iranians get by without the Straits of Hormuz? As I understand it, the West are not their only customers and they do happen to be connected,by land, to some of their biggest customers, sanctions or no sanctions.

Genuine question. I don’t know the answer.

Of course they could, they’re using it as leverage though, they want uranium production and the sactions lifted or partially lifted.
Fun and games.

Just to point out that Supertankers have been sunk in the straits before & there was a blockade
#armillapatrol
Iran has coastline outside the straits not sure about oil outlets.
UAE has a pipeline to Fujairah outside the zone where the tankers were mined
The world still needs Saudi light oil Yemen rebels have attacked their pipeline with drones.
US may bomb some bases and kill civilians, but the West without the right mix of oils would be in the dark ages inside weeks
