:hccc: 🏏 Hampshire Cricket!

Listened to the match on Solent: I wish had a pound for every time Kevin James mentioned Adams dropping Klinger first ball :slight_frown:

Shame about the result; I thought we had probably scored just about enough runs, but those few costly overs towards the end cost us dear.

Well, after exiting the 50 over competition in the quarter-final and the T20 in the semi-final in the space of a few days last week I had rather lost the stomach for posting on this thread; but Hampshire can still salvage something from this season; namely, avoid relegation from Div 1.

However, to do so, we really need to win our current match against Durham; therefore, it’s good to see that we are well placed to do just that, with Durham only 88 runs ahead in the second innings with just 4 wickets remaining.

Good to see our latest South African import, Ryan McLaren, making a good contribution with 7 wickets so far, plus 30 handy runs in a low scoring match.

Aye, also they’re going to get 3 bonus points for the bowling effort and 2 for the batting so a win would take them above Sussex with 3 games left to play!

Ah bollox to that, I see Sussex are leading and leading well at the moment, and they’re likely to get major 3 batting points too.

Good point, Bob, the Sussex match isn’t going our way, but if Hants beat Durham and Yorkshire beat Somerset, which they look well set to do so, then Somerset (currently 4th from bottom) will be well within our reach.

Edit: Just looked at the fixtures:

Next up: Somerset v Hampshire

Then: Sussex v Somerset

The planets are moving into position for a great escape…

Meanwhile, I saw Warnie tonight, he’s looking good and being as honest as ever- always good entertainment.

A few alarms chasing 163. But after a rain break, Vince and Daws saw us home at a canter. 7 wicket win.

Worcester getting stuffed by Sussex and should only get 2 points, the same as Somerset, who lost by an innings.

You could be right, RB!

Somerset v Hampshire is the big one. Shame that Edwards could be out injured.

We have momentum!

This would be a great escape as the form mid-season was appalling, whereas it’s just been poor lately.

Big 4 days coming up and I think we’ve started pretty well :-

Yep, Bob, shame about Carbs being out just before lunch; but, overall, I’m very pleased with our morning’s efforts.

Good to see that Fidel Edwards is fit to play. All in all, we’ve put a very strong side out - on paper, at least.

Vince out for 60, Hants 146/3

.@ Middlesex_CCC out for 106. @ Yorkshireccc will be champions if Notts bowled out under 400 http://the-ecb.co.uk/UgUO2l

Hants 176/6

2 wickets in 2 balls, ffs

So much for our good start :slight_frown:

Indeed, looks like we’re not even going to get a batting bonus point

Yeah, and Somerset have already got 2 balling points

Ah, 203/6, that’s 1 point in the bag then

Well, that’s the good news

Here’s the bad: Hants now 203/7 :slight_frown:
