Hampshire Cricket 2016

Injury crisis has stepped up a notch with Edwards being carted off.

From the squad of eighteen, eight are unlikely to be fit for the next game.

From when I studied Maths that leaves us with ten players.

Yorkshire are currently 5-1 off of 4.3 overs

Tomlinson with the wicket of Lees

I see from the BBC website that we have been deducted 1 point - what’s that all about then?

Considering the total that Yorkshire racked up, and the poor start to our innings, this really is one fuck of a result. Particularly pleased to see us declaring once past the follow-on figure and putting some pressure on the Tykes in their second innings. We were never going to win the match by then, but there was a pleasing boldness about the move. And reducing Yorkshire to 183-8 can only be a good morale boost for the team, especially given all the injuries plaguing us.

One final thought - a couple of people commented adversely on the performance of our top-order batting. Fair point, but Yorkshire did it twice.

We didn’t declare. We just didnt have a no. 11 to go in , as Edwards was in A&E with a fucked up ankle.

Cant quite believe that Yorks didn’t press on for a declaration, as we were, quite literally, the walking wounded.

Losing lots of players to injury from a small squad, but equally worrying will be the fact that Vince is probably nailed on to play the 1st Test next month.

England are one batsman short after the sad retirement of Taylor, and also have issues around Nick Compton & Alex Hales (who is yet to play any County Cricket), don’t think it is a question of IF he plays, more whether he Opens or comes in at 3 or 4 for England

So our wobbly upper order could be further weakened
