Hampshire Cricket 2016

Ok - we lead on first innings by 50 runs and have to win…

meanwhile at Edgbaston :-

Warwickshire lead Lancashire by 264 runs with 4 wickets remaining

Seems to me the pitch is being nicer than we’d hoped and expected. Vince wanted to bat first to get the best of the pitch, but it doesn’t look like it’s turned anywhere near as much as was anticipated yesterday and today.

So, bash out a load of runs pdq so we can get them back in early tomorrow morning, or even tonight? There are 47 overs to play today, so if we can score at four an over or more then we’ll be able to do that. Big ask though.

Knock up a quick 250 and start wandering about on the pitch in your longest stud…

OK, so it’s only one over, but I reckon taking eleven off the first is an indication of intention…

Or shit bowling…

Warwickshire have a 284 run lead at the moment, 4 wickets remaining, they’re going to declare soon…

and it’s forecast to be a glorious day in Birmingham tomorrow…

35-0 off of seven overs

40 overs left today - if we carry on at 5 per over that’ll be 235, so a lead of 285

Then ten wickets tomorrow

Yup, it’s on

Hampshire reach fifty in the tenth over, but Adams (30) top-edges to Onions at short fine leg, b Borthwick. Speedy start, Alsop in # HAMvDUR

well, a draw’s no good, so at least it doesn’t look we’ll die wondering…

Alsop didn’t last long

50-2

Vince is bowled by Pringle (off stump) having hit 13 off 7 balls. Ervine joins Smith (26*) & Hampshire are 74-3 after 13 # HAMvDUR

85-4 FFFS

Lancs need 347 to win

Piece of piss

If we’re all out tonight it’ll just give us more time to bowl them out!

I’ve not lost faith yet

Given how they batted in the 1st innings…they will score 147

109-6 lead by 159 runs!!!

Lancashire 5-1, trail by 341

Middlesex 18-2 needing to win to win the league.

Somerset have all but won with 7 bonus points which will put them on 226 points total, 13 ahead of Middlesex who only have 5 bonus points.

Those two quick Hampshire wickets were my fault, as was the first wicket - I looked at the score and they fell immediately without runs being added. :astonished:

I won’t make the same mistake again today, nor tomorrow.
