Hampshire Cricket 2016

Good bonus points, and a draw’s the worst we’ll get out from this game. Weather looks to be less good for batting tomorrow than it has been for the past couple of days, so maybe luck’s with us here. Here’s hoping, anyway.

So, bit of cloud cover, fourth day pitch, 10 wickets and we’re out of the bottom 2.

Come on 'aaaaampshire!

WICKET for @ daws128! Alsop pounces on a thick edge from Burns (18) & Hampshire reduce Surrey to 49-1. Nine to go!

He’s at it again! Wicket for @ Brad_wheal and it’s Sibley (44) who’s caught down leg side by @ lewis_mcmanus! Surrey 93-2 in the 37th. Game on

come on… a quick clatter of wickets… mind you caught down leg side. That hurts.

Durham are close to losing (3 wickets left) and Middx need 88 with 5 wickets in hand to beat Notts. So over to Hants…

191-3 Harinath c McManus b Ervine 57 (105)

Hampshire are 62 runs ahead.

Harinath goes, 191 for 3.

This is a nailed-on draw it would appear. A shame, since both Notts & Durham got tonked.

Have faith Wasim, Steven Davies is in, the most he ever made was 147!!

Match drawn then. I guess we’d have all taken that before the game, especially with Notts and Durham both losing. The fact that the draw actually looks like a disappointing result can only be good.

Notts relegated, guess you could perm any one of Warwickshire, Durham, Lancashire and Hampshire for relegation now.

Next Round has :-

Lancs v Middlesex

Durham v Surrey

Yorkshire v Somerset

Surrey are safe and can’t win the Championship so what sort of team will they put out??

Good point, Bob, and it’s also probably worth noting that Surrey have the One Day Cup final at Lord’s coming up next weekend; so, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see Durham do well against Surrey.

But, with Middlesex going for the County Championship title, I’m hoping (and expecting) them to have much the better of their encounter with Lancaster, and the fewer points Lancs pick up from that match the better for us.

The crucial fixtures will come in the final week of the season when we play Durham and Warwickshire play Lancashire.

Warwickshire will be 8 points ahead of us and Lancs will, hopefully, only be about 8 points ahead of us as well. If they draw their match then the maximum points that both teams can pick up is 13; but if either team win (probably the best outcome for us) then the losing team will only get 0 to 8 points (more likely 0 to 3-5 points).

Therefore, according to my calculations, it’s possible that a high-scoring draw between Hants and Durham could earn us enough points to finish above either Warwickshire or Lancaster, providing that one of them lose their final fixture without accruing too many bonus points (and that Lancs lose heavily against Middlesex!). Obviously, a much better scenario would be for us to win against Durham.

Or, all the matches will get rained off and we’ll get relegated regardless. :lou_sad:

What will really piss me off is if we end up getting relegated because of those 3 points we got deducted for a slow fucking over-rate.

Looks like they have put out their normal starting team, except that Jason Roy is also included. Durham 128-3 currently. Middx 108 for no loss v Lancs

Yorkshire currently 123-9 against Somerset, are they doing a cricket equivalent of Spurs??

Durham 233-7 at tea, currently 1 batting point.

Middlessex 204-2 at tea, Lancs have no bowling points yet.

Yorkshire 145 ao, Somerset currently 6-1
