Hampshire Cricket 2016

Looking at the above table, Bob, and taking into account that Durham have one game more than us left to play, I reckon we might have more chance of catching Warwickshire or Lancashire who still have to play each other.

Whatever happens in the other games, though, I reckon the likelihood is that we’re gonna need to win both our remaining fixtures to have a chance of avoiding relegation.

Aye but Durham have got Yorkshire, Surrey and us, if the table is any indication of form they should lose the first 2 which would make our last game of the season a real 32 (plus bonus points) pointer.

Bob, having studied this matter further, I conclude that you are right.

If Durham lose their next 2 games (preferably not picking up too many batting or bowling bonus points in the process), then a resounding Hants victory over Durham in our final game of the season could be enough to save us from relegation, even if we lose our next game against Surrey. But, of course, we’ll be in a better position if we draw against Surrey, and a MUCH better position if we win against Surrey.

In short, there’s still hope.

Somerset have recovered to 89-9 which means Warwickshire are probably leaving the relegation party.

Yorkshire are going well against Durham - who I think are our only realistic target.

198-4 for now. Pants

220-5 at the moment

And Warwickshire have now self-destructed.

There could be a pitch enquiry at Taunton - 19 wickets in a day for 216…

20 wickets for 218!!

Notts are 230-8 against Middlesex, 1 maybe 2 batting bonus points.

Yorkshire are currently 308-5 against Durham

I can see Warwickshire managing to lose that now with no batting points, which ironically would be a bonus.

Current scores, as of 11:32

Durham have managed 2 bonus bowling points, so have we but we still have another 10 overs to try and get another wicket (preferrably 2) to get that 3rd point.

329 all out, from 103.5 overs, that’ll be the 3 batting points we needed.

Now lets rack up 300 odd runs in reply.

Hampshire are 12-0 at lunch

Here are the other lunch scores :-

Surrey 329 vs Hampshire 12-0

Yorkshire 460 vs Durham

Somerset 95 & 128-3 vs Warwickshire 123

Nottinghamshire 241 vs Middlesex 65-4

Hants 106-1. Keep going lads…

Somerset 211 all out. Warks need 183 to win. On that pitch that could be a tall order!

Middx 158-6

Durham 114-2

Warwickshire are currently 56-7, needing another 127 runs to win

Durham are 159-3 needing 111 runs to avoid the follow on.

Hampshire are 162-3 needing fuck loads of runs to get some decent batting points.

How often do you get to bowl the opposition out for 95 but still manage to lose the match on Day Two?

That’s where Warwickshire are heading…87-8.
