I remember aeons ago there was a documentary about a family recipe for soup being adopted by one of the big canning companies, (I think it might have been Campbell’s rather than Heinz.) It was genuinely interesting how they went about it, loads of the ingredients had to be altered or replaced completely to get a similar taste in the soup after putting it through the canning process.
Got mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand I can understand the outrage, the Neapolitans get just as pissed off with putting anything onto a pizza beyond the basics. But loads of people of my generation had their first ever taste of pasta via Heinz canned spaghetti, which was a staple for most households and to my palate still tastes fucking lovely on toast. When it comes to this Carbonara I shall reserve judgement until I’ve actually tasted it.

Have always struggled with the XXL sarnie when in the states - carb overload and average quality fillings (but loads of it). Nowadays very good fillings UK food channels appear to tell me.
