Hnfff.
A more technical critic than me may be able to explain why The Witcher isn’t the next GoT.
Story is there, Dragons, Elves, Swords Sorcery & Boobs, and some great scenery.
It is watchable, you do need to know that Ep1 is a flash forward but otherwise I enjoyed it Hnfff.
Bingeability? Yeah, if you cant find anything else.
Character development 5/10
Locations 8/10
All the right Dungeons & Dragons stuff 7/10
Cinematography 5/10
Acting 5/10
Henry Cavill Hnff.
But watchable. Might read the book(s)
Hnff? Cavills’ reaction to everything.
Could become a meme if anyone else gets past the 1st episode.

I’m surprised.
Was staying clear of Messiah.
What a mistake.

Very well crafted opening 4 episodes. Probably offends every religious sect out there but beyond that superb
Absolutely hooked

I enjoyed it. The is he isn’t he narrative is very well handled throughout the series.

I won’t spoil it for you but he’s just a very naughty boy - or is he?

Without any spoilers, I’m rating it a 9/10 and a great acting debut in a documentary by Dynamo

I was wrong.
111,111,999,trillion and seventy six billion out of 10

There so is a Season 2 of Messiah coming.
In 12 months.
Very clever TV, plays on so many emotions/ doctrines very well

Meh. Cavill is just being The Witcher. It’s a typical anti-hero role designed to ensure you’re never fully onboard with what he’s up to. It’s the characters around him which provide much of the ā€œhumanā€ interest, which is not surprising, as Witchers are no longer human.

It’s not Game of Thrones because it is not fully devoted to episodic storytelling, a hallmark it shares with the Mandalorian. Yes, there is an overarching plot, but it still does freak of the week episodes like more traditional fayre.

I should add that from what I’ve seen so far, the Witcher is quality , and I qualify that by admitting that I’m an old bastard that stops watching stuff if I feel I’ve seen it all before.

I really enjoyed it, but then again I really enjoyed Witcher 3 and played it through a couple of times, I like that the series is delving a bit more into character back stories that wasn’t really fleshed out in the game (I never played 1 or 2). I’ll give it a month or so and will probably watch it again.

For the record. I binged Witcher in 2 evenings and enjoyed it a lot
Just felt less gripped by it than by either Messiah or GoT
Just felt it could have been awesome as opposed to strangely compelling

Just watched the first Episode and I am quite hooked…see @pap there are some shows I do like…

Just sayin’

My daughter was telling me that he was offered a percentage of the game sales when it was adapted.

He wanted half a mil instead. Game devs implored him to take the percentage deal but he refused.

The games, especially the third, become huge sellers so he takes the devs to court and loses.

Let’s hope he cut a better deal with Netflix.

Ooops.

ā€˜ā€˜In March 2016, CD Projekt Red reported that the game had shipped nearly 10 million copies worldwide. By the end of 2017, the series as a whole had sold over 33 million. By June 2019, that number had risen to over 40 million, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt accounting for over half of that figure.’’

Because I’m got depressed at the football and was home alone, I ended up binge watching the first 6 episodes of Messiah. What struck me was how much the Israeli agent looked like Rio Ferdinand. Anyway, I’ve enjoyed it. Didn’t like the Drambuie I was forced to drink after the red wine, white wine and whiskey all ran out. Very poor planning and shopping.

The Rio & Dynamo show.

I can tell you what isn’t a good show - Silent witness. It’s turned into a terrible programme. I won’t watch it again. Fucking rubbish.

I’m sure someone mentioned Scandinavia Crime shows.
The Valhalla Murders is now on Netflix here in Poland.
I see why the genre is well liked gritty without being OTT & the scenery around Reykjavik
It’s good enough to savour in 2 episode per day chunks rather than a binge

I’ll put that on list as i really enjoyed Trapped (set in Iceland).

I’ve powered through all the Inspector Montalbano on bbc iplayer. 30ish episodes at nearly and hour and half each. Will keep you busy in the next few weeks.

I can Netflix & dodgy stream. I can get real time UK TV but Iplayer is beyond my tech atm.
And no, we have zero budget for any decent VPN these days
Its gripping enough for us to have limited it to 2 episodes a day. Simple but still gripping
